well, from what I've seen of both (watched all of DN and the first episode of OP) they are totally different animes....

I prefer death note only because I watched all of it and haven't seen much of One Piece.... but OP just didn't get me excited to keep watching like Death Note did.

I agree with Geo, the two shows are pretty much complete opposites. But, me being the more cheerful type, prefer One Piece over Death Note. The story line is better, and much easier to follow, and the Devil Fruit thing is awesome. Oda is a genius for that, because now none of the different arcs can be similar because of how much the new powers affect it.
