Would these be appropriate scenarios?

So yea, me and that famous TA from another one of my posts have really hit it off. She really seems to like me as a student and invited me to take her first course she's going to teach as a real professor at my school, next semester, which I WILL take!!!

I spoke about her in positive ways with my parents because I also help her around school a lot when I do not have classes, including weekends, for free. I do not mind doing this because I enjoy her too as a person, and my parents always want to know where I am.

Now, since I told my parents that this TA and soon to be my professor knows my household's neighborhood for its good food, my parents suggested that this TA and soon to be my professor go out for a meal together....but just how appropriate is it for an undergrad to go out for a meal with a TA and soon to be professor? Shall I at least wait until I'm in graduate school? Both of my parents and I were questioning this scenario last night at dinner when they told me this.

Also, they are encouraged me (and I want to go there too!) to go to Brazil with her because that's where she's from and its a beautiful country. I know this should DEFINITELY wait until AT LEAST I'm not her student anymore, but would it be appropriate to go to Brazil with her or meet her there even as a former student and stay for a week or two? Can formers be considered as ''friends'' here?

What do you think?

Going out with a TA that is about to be your proffessor might be something that you do not want to do until after graduating to take any possible akwardness that might be faced by either of you if there was something that went wrong in one of those dinners. Is not something bad to do things like that with a TA/Proffesor but is something to avoid for the good of both at least until you graduate. But if you want to go to Brazil as a fun trip it shouldn't be something that should affect you if it's only for friendly purposes. Being friend with your proffessor in college is something that is reccomended so I feel that you should do it since they are connections. In college you are both old enough to make those decision so both of you should be able to handle the situation properly. I could say yes as long as you keep them appropiate and friendly.

College is a whole different arena than a high school, where such a thing would draw TV cameras, lawyers, and concerned parents.  I imagine your TA is near about your age.  If this is true, then there's really no scandal here.  I guess there's not even much scandal if they are a bit older.  You're both adults, and you can live your lives the way you want to. I've dated a number of teachers throughout the years, but never a College professor, so I guess I don't have the greatest perspective.  I would say, however, if I did date a college professor, I'd be delighted to take her class, and I think she'd be delighted, or even honored, to have me in class.  Sure, you might get some sideways glances from other students about it being "unfair", but in reality, she'll probably be harder on you than anyone else.

If your parents are on board, and you're on board, and she's on board, go for it!

The one place to be careful with is if there is a college policy about their teachers dating students.  This might exist.  Check it out.  If it's an issue, definitely wait until Grad school, or at least keep out of her class so you aren't her student!

And yes- I was a TA myself.  Never dated a student though. In my school, however, it wouldn't have been an issue if I did.
