Barathemos : I've used both, and neither one will work. I did configure the controls with Mednafen, and the arrow keys and start button would work for a while but then the game would freeze. When I started playing again I would get the same results as before.

Barathemos : I just configured the controls again, and it worked fine. I wasn't configuring them properly. However, when I started playing again I had to reconfigure them. Once I did that it would work fine and do save states and load the save states which the Genesis games aren't doing, and that is another issue I have been having with many games.
