Dont believe what you see, because apparently there are criminals at the moment creating fake game pages to deliver malware to your computer. There's a game being greenlit called Octopus City Blues and just a few days ago, these hackers created a replica page under the green light section. On this page, there is a link to go to a demo of the game, but instead, the page is changed to redirect anyone who clicks it to a malware download site.

This isn't the only game that's affected, so far in 2015, its possible that at least one dozen fake games in green light have been made to replica existing games in order to attack your computers. Since this issue has been brought up to Valve, numerous attempts to track down any other possible fake pages have begun, and the links have been deleted, though it doesn't mean that it won't happen again.

Valve warns users to be careful on green light pages after this incident, and I do feel a bit uneasy after heating about this because im always on greenlight and I know many people who have games there, people who could end up losing business because gamers nay believe that its the actual developers that are distributing the malware

Thanks for the warning, although usually once my computer goes to a malicious or bad website it says that the website is not safe and I have the option to 'Go back to safety. I will keep a look out though. It kind of humors me that people would even make time to actually make these malware sites but it really is just the world we live in.. 

I used to be in a skype group with a bunch of hackers... I didn't want to be in the group but one of my friends added me... one day one of them added me and I got called some curse words so I deleted everyone from my skype list relating to the game I was playing. (Seems drastic)but I would rather not be hacked or a virus put on my computer because of them.

Easy to fall into the trap...

solution: do not use links in comments and only enter the official website, also wait for the official release

Ever since the computer I used had that Ransomware malware infected (and safely removed), I be careful on anything I even visited,

I have AVG and if something bad comes up, it will let me know that it's a bad site filled with viruses, and if that's the case, that website can forget about me.

The actual virus is only really half of the problem this could lead to. Sure people could have protection, but if somebody thinks that its the actual game that's coming from, wouldn't that give the developers a really bad reputation?

Well in theory yes. Anything bad that happens in general can give somebody a bad reputation. I'm sure if it became viral or actually became a big issue that the actual company who made the game would do something about it. They would probably end up closing / shutting down the site for a while until they can get better security and what not all depending or try to shut down the people who are actually causing the problems.

Bintsy : The developer of the game can't shut down the site, that would never happen, Steam would never let that happen. They could probably take down their own page but the site is never closing for years.

*groan* Thanks for the warning. I've not been on greenlight in a while, but one of my friends is on there constantly. I'll wait on him to wake up (yay being on the OTHER END OF THE COUNTRY) and get on Skype, then he's getting warned. ALL he needs is his beast of a computer getting infected. I doubt it would happen, because he has good anti virus software, but still. On the off chance that it did get through his stuff. Don't want that happening. 

Also don't want him mistakenly thinking the actual developer had that sort of issue with their greenlight game, so yeeeah, he's getting warned. 

Though now watch him already know and 'gripe' at me for telling him what he already knew. Never know, though, I may actually surprise him for once. Thanks for putting this up.

Yunimori : I'm on Greenlight all the time because of my Steam forum so every week or so I'm going through about 10 game pages to find if there's a game could enough to show off in the forum.

Well the point I'm getting to is that the actual game developers would do everything they can to fix the problem.

Bintsy : That's the problem really, when games operate under Steam, they have many strict guidelines, so they cant do anything at all to fix it, the last time something happened with a game, Steam shut down the game compltely, and wouldnt even let the developers sell the game anymore and it wasnt their fault, bu they had no say in the situation and the game isnt allowed to be sold anymore.

Well that's kind of dumb if you ask me. Steam wasn't the one who created the game so why can't the developers who own the actual game resell the game if they can possibly prove that it's safe and secure. Well I guess that falls back into the line of steam keeping their reputation. That maybe why there is such strict guildlines. In any case if new game creators created their own site to sell the game it would be possibly different. I guess steam is just more publicity for the game so I understand.
