Many people still has in mind the tragedy of the Germanwings flight that crashed into the Alps killing 150 people. I did say in another thread I had a flight scheduled with Germanwings for today. I took it, and I will never forget it.

10 am. The captain himself throws a speech in German, a language I don't understand, but some people applauded. Next, he repeated the speech in English. He thanked us for supporting the company in such hard times, also thanked the crew who didn't give up on flying, and promised to take us to our destination safely. It was here where the rest of the passengers, myself included, applauded.

We took off from Barcelona, having a very stable and comfortable flight. Two hours later, we reached our destination, Cologne. Everyone applauded the landing, something I experienced for the first time in years.

Now I'm on my bedroom in Nurburg, some 70 miles south of Cologne, where tomorrow I'll live the greatest experience of my life, if the weather allows me to. All thanks to a captain devoted to his work.

With this thread, I demand an applause for all those crew members devoted to fly with Germanwings, and also to the thousands of people that didn't back off from flying with that company after the tragedy.

I think I can give some applause for that, yes.  Also for the passengers who decided to keep flying with the company despite the tragedy, including yourself.

Hope you have a good day tomorrow, weather permitting, and stay safe out there.

I applauded the crew members and passengers! But I did it quietly since my brother and sister are sleeping and my room where I'm typing this post is near them

I'm so glad that despite the tragedy that happened before, the crew didn't give up and they still got a lot of passengers on their flights!

I hope that you do live the greatest experience of your life and that the weather will be amazing!

Home again. The flight was still awesome, as it was very cloudy in Cologne, so once we got to enough altitude all we could see through the window was a white mantle that you almost could walk on.

The weather wasn't extremely good. Saturday snowed, so my experience had to be postponed until Sunday. The second chance we had a very sunny day, and I could undergo that experience. Once I retrieve everything from the luggage I could do a thread about it.

I hoped I could get more replies, but as we say here, better than nothing. Already planning the next trip!!

Light Knight : Ehm, it already happened, it was the only reason I travelled to a foreign country.

It was a lap around the Nordschleife. It's a racetrack located in Germany, which is like 13 miles long (yep, 13 miles). It was labelled as the Green Hell, as it has everything a racetrack can have. Almost all car manufacturers from Europe use it as the training ground for their models for that reason. I did a lap as co-pilot of a taxi, but it's not the public yellow car you're thinking of, it was a finely tuned car that went all out through the track.

By the way, since I summoned you, do you know if I could post a link to Facebook showing the video of the lap? We got some limitations after the hacking, and I don't think the Vizzed uploader will handle the nearly 11 minutes it lasts.

I'm glad you're among the millions of passengers who had a safe trip.

I'm not trying to be snarky, but there always seems to be a widespread paranoia whenever there is a plane crash. Granted, this one wasn't an accident, but we can't let fear overcome us or else we'll never get out of our houses.

Also, I don't understand applauding. If the planed crashed, would you boo?

But kudos for your final message. Indeed, congratulations to people who overcome fear and irrationality and keep living their lives.

it's nice that you are supporting a company during hard times. Most people wouldn't use them in spite of recent events.

So good for you, and good for the captain and the crew of the flight.
