Help with saving on Tecmo Super Bowl

I've been trying to save my game data on tecmo super bowl 2009 and haven't been able to have any success. I've read the "trouble with saving" and still no luck. I hit F10 and get the code and save it in the "Saved Game data". The trouble is when I come back later to play a game and load my saved info, I can't paste the code in the box that comes up asking for the code. I've tried copying and pasting and CTRL-C and then CTRL-P and nothing works.

Can anyone offer a suggestion so I can actually play a full season rather than always having to restart from week 1?
