That's what he literally referred to himself as tonight.

When I found out he was going to be in Bellevue, WA, tonight a few months ago, I just had to go. Not because I'm a huge fan. Honestly, I'm just an avid fan of his. I had to go to thank him in person for saving my life.

A few months ago, as some of my more closer Vizzed friends might remember, I was in a really bad place. I thought the VA was going to decline my disability claim again. I couldn't find a job to pay for my bills. I was tired of hearing my family having something to whine about 24/7, and it somehow always being my fault in the end, even if I didn't know anything about it until I was being blamed for something that I had no business even knowing about.  I was on the verge of getting past chickening out of trying to commit suicide, as I had tried to commit suicide int the past, but I could never follow through, because I could never hurt myself.

Mick Foley made a post on his Facebook page, and it got me thinking about it at the time. So, I messaged him, asking how he got through his hard times. He replied back to me a hell of a lot quicker than I expected him to. And his response was exactly what I needed to here. As what he said to me is private, and I would like to keep it that way, I'll paraphrase how I took it: " Just be yourself. Nobody can tell you how to be you. You have to do you, and make what you have work. Keep it up man, and don't give up."

That was exactly what I needed to hear. So tonight, I went to his show. I actually got the last ticket. Somebody canceled 5 minutes before I called to confirm that the early showing was actually sold out, as his site said when I checked it after waking up at about 5:35 PM. So, I hauled butt in my car to get there to get the ticket.

I was lucky enough to get one of the few questions that he allowed the crowd to ask him. I think it was probably around 200 people or so, but no more than 300. I actually had the next to last question. I decided to not ask the question I had, and to speak up and thank him. I paraphrased my story into about 30 seconds, and then I told him he saved me from a very dark place, thus saving my life. The noise the room made was incredible. The show had gotten some pretty big hollers for him and the 2 warm up comedians that did their thing before he came on, but that one was loud. It took everything I had not to bust into tears.

I was lucky enough to get a picture with him at the meet and greet before the show started:

Don't know who this Mick Foley is, but the story you tell is absolutely amazing.

I had no one to ask for help when I was in your situation, but I ended up following what Mick said to you. Sometimes you just need something that makes you open your eyes and understand that it's not over yet, and that something always comes from a third party.

Glad to see you made it past your suicidal tendencies. I've seen some other stories about people wanting to commit suicide, but I think that for the first time I read the story of someone who went further than me in those tendencies.

Keep it up, because you're not alone. Here you have a community that will help you through anything.

This is an inspiring story! It's amazing enough that he saved your life, but for you to be able to go to his show and thank him in front of hundreds of people, and get him a ton of applause from the audience is even more amazing! Huge congrats to you!

I saw the picture of you with Mick on your Facebook and thought that was pretty cool. I didn't know the rest of the story. Pretty awesome.

I've always liked Mick Foley. He's the kind of person celebrities should be. Approachable and real. I can't stand the people who don't have time to give back to their fans like Mick has over the years.

geeogree : Dude, you have no idea how easy he was to talk to. I swear, if the man had the time, I could have easily had a 2 hour conversation with this man, and it wouldn't have had anything to with wrestling, other than maybe a few questions relating to wrestling thrown in here and there.

I know I said this to you on VC, but I'll say it again, it is REALLY cool that you got to meet him. Especially getting 2 autographs from him. That's just insane. I know I would treasure those for a lifetime.

Also, I didn't know that his nickname was "Freaking"

pacman1755 : Well, his Irish friend used a choice word that would get me in trouble here on Vizzed, and Mick isn't too big on the said word. But, he did promise 1 of them, and he did deliver.
