I wish I could show my true self more in school. I usually don't have friends of mine in my classes that I can talk to, plus I'm shy and slightly awkward socially (probably because I have a social condition called Autism). Most people probably see me (if they even notice me XD) as an unhappy, alone, maybe even antisocial guy.

I'd try to be more outgoing and get some more friends, but I'm mostly surrounded by bad influences and the good influences are difficult to come by. I think that's typically how public schools are. Another reason I'm not really outgoing is that I usually can't think of much (or anything) to say about things the people around me talk about.

I'm trying to put myself out there more, so everyone can see the me I want to be, and so I can be an inspiration and a big helper.

Like I said, most people probably see me as unhappy, alone, and maybe even antisocial. I want to prove in huge ways that if I wasn't surrounded by mostly bad influences, I'd always be the opposite of what I just listed. I'm not antisocial, I'm just shy. I'm not unhappy, it's just hard to show it unless something I find funny happens and I laugh, or someone asks me for help. I have many friends, but usually they aren't in my classes, and most of the people I haven't talked to much are bad influences. If my friends were in my classes this wouldn't worry me at all.

I'm OK as long as I know who I am and as long as my friends do, but I'm still trying to put myself out there more. I've found several ways to do that, and a few of them I've already done I joined a leadership class, so I can be in a better environment than the regular classes and I can get a lot of help to live the best life I can, as well as give a lot of help to my school.

I signed up to have that class next year, and I also signed up for the Yearbook class. That means I'm able to learn how the high school yearbook is made and I can contribute to it That'll really help to put me out there and let people know that I like getting involved with the school other than as a student!

When I'm with my friends, I can be who I want to be everywhere. It's really fun and it feels awesome! Especially since my friends relate to me way more than I'd imagined and none of my friends are too similar to me! Also because we're hilarious, random, and some of my friends are pretty/very weird too. XD

Most of the time I've felt better since I tried to put myself out there more!

Lesson of the thread - If you don't feel so good about yourself, put yourself out there more and see if you feel any better!

PacmanandMariofan : this is a nice thread. i have asperger's, a form of autism, so i know how you feel. i never really fit in. i try to put myself out there, it didn't work. i was branded as an idiot, a fool, a "retard" but i shrug that off. i'm online schooled now, which i hate.

noahs_brother : That stinks. At least you tried! It's always awesome when someone tells me they have Asperger's or Autism. Asperger's and Autism are treated as equals for the word stupid, so sometimes I hear people in school say something like, "What are you, autistic?" after the person they're talking to is only being stupid (except me, which is funny because I actually have Autism ).

I have gotten so many insults thrown at me for being a "retard" though. I've expected a ton of insults to me for being so socially awkward, shy, and most of the time, quiet too, but I haven't gotten insults about that much. I only remember a few times where that's happened. At this point, most of the time I'm quiet is because I'm trying to be. There are some people I should avoid talking to and I do until they talk to me.

Of course you aren't nice to JB I never hear anyone talk positive about him anymore and I don't know any people that like him. At all.

I also have a worry that people don't see me how I actually am. My default face isn't exactly happy, but it isn't downright depressed either, and for some reason people always have the impression that I'm really sad whenever I'm not laughing or smiling . It's really weird XD. How can anyone smile 24/7?

NO ONE here is like that. They're well aware of those terms, but for some reason they're quite mature in that perspective. I wonder why... I'm proud of it, regardless xP. If someone here said "What are you, Autistic?" Well, they'd get beaten up XD!

Welp. Little bit of manic advice here...

I've been diagnosed with everything from antisocial to asbergers to schizophrenic, I kid you not. However...whatever ANYONE says to you, don't always believe what you see, hear, or read. Just because of a simple disabilty...it matters not. Name one person in this earth who is 100% well and perfect. WE ALL HAVE PROBLEMS. So take heed to my words of wisdom, whether somebody tells you that you shine or you are a "autisic" or a dullard, you are what you make yourself to be! Trust me the sky's the limit. Beleive what you feel in your heart, and you'll get far, anyone. And at any age, race or gender! LISTEN, you're only as powerful as you make yourself to be. SO be yourself!

NintendoFanKimmy : I don't care about that at all! I like sharing my experiences and letting people know that I've gone through/done it before so I post about myself in almost everyone's threads!

I worry a lot about how people see me as well, obviously. I don't know if I usually look sad when I'm not smiling or laughing, but every time I see myself and I'm not doing either of those things (which is rare because usually I can only see myself in a mirror XD), I just look serious.

No one can smile 24/7. They can try, but it'll really hurt XD How can anyone smile while they're doing schoolwork? (except fun projects) I'm sure some do, but that's weird.

I know that the people saying that in your school getting beaten up was an exaggeration. In my school, no one is like "He said what? Ohhhhhhh I'm-a punch him in DA FAAAAAACE!!!!!" either  I'm so happy there are schools out there that have all students that are mature with things like Autism They must be very rare. Autism isn't very rare though. About 1 in 100 people have it now, according to recent statistics.
