Nowadays, I have read a lot of news about a topic: Virtual Reality. There has been an explosion of this topic ever since the Oculus Rift became a very popular topic (thanks to pop culture I am assuming). Recently, I have seen many big companies take up the project into their own hands, for example Microsoft presented their holographic display in their exposition, which would be somewhat of a virtual reality since it is making the user see objects that are in fact not there. I recently also came upon a post about AMD (one of the biggest companies in processor development rivals with Intel) trying to develop what they call "Liquid VR" trying to make processors that are focused on 3D rendering (which is what the virtual reality uses in order to make the objects that are shown to the user be realistic). I am also pretty sure that Intel will not be far behind from AMD and will eventually also take part of the list of companies that have bandwagoned into the Virtual Reality department. Recently there is also news of Nvidia trying to developed virtual reality focused graphics card, many big companies, such as Google, Sony and Samsung, are now competing to hope to monopolize the Virtual Reality market by designing their own virtual reality well.. what to call it... headsets??

What do you think of Virtual Reality?

Are you excited for this new development in technology?

Do you think it is all worth the hype?

Which company do you think will win (at least for the first generation of Virtual Reality "Headsets")?

Which game franchises do you hope to see in this hype?

Any SAO fans feeling some sort of nostalgic excitement??

For experts: Feel free to add more information or provide any corrections I am all open to being corrected after all I am just an Internet reader.

I'm excited for virtual reality. I think it's definitely worth the attention it's receiving.

I honestly don't particularly like any of the corporations enough to root for one in particular. I just hope they'll have serious competition with each other (lower prices) and get out the technology as soon as they can.

There are just so many cool applications for this. I'd be interested to see if they could render a model of a 4-dimensional object using 3D rendering just like we see 3-dimensional objects on a 2D screen. It's not as useful as the other applications, but it would be really neat.

Oh, and gaming... The future is going to be awesome.
