I have put in several years at the YMCA and I'm happy with what I've done.  I have decided to move on to different pastures and I'm asking the community of VIzzed: What should I do to prepare to leave?

How did your last quitting go?  What did you do before hand or after?

warmaker : I'm sort of in the same situation you are...not exactly, but its similar. The bowling alley I have my shop in is about to close down in April, and people are already asking me for my phone number so they can keep coming to me, even though I'll be somewhere else. In my case, I'm having a closeout sale in the weeks before we close. And I'll do my best to try and stay in touch with my current customers.

I don't know exactly what your job is at the YMCA, but maybe try to get some phone numbers or emails from people who you want to stay in touch with...just to give them an update on how your doing in your new job, or whatever it is that you do. I didn't really have any say in trying to keep the bowling alley where it is now. All I do is rent space in it, in a way.

Good luck on your new journey!

I would make sure you had another job lined up first before you left your job at the YMCA.

thing1 : No I don't just yet.  I'm going ambitious and I expect I'll find something pretty quick.  We can survive without me having a job for a few months and I just don't have the time to job hunt as aggressively as I want to when I'm working so many hours.  The decision to quit so I can find something different takes in consideration the savings from not spending gas money driving, not spending money on day care, and not spending the time on the road commuting too and from work.

I will find something, and quickly.  I just need to dedicate the time to really knock on some doors.  I'm not worried I'll be out of a job for a long time.  Someone, maybe Abe Lincoln, once said the enemy of great is good enough.  Things are good enough but I don't see major upward movement.  It's better to sacrifice now and have a nice set up down the road when we need more.

I worked at a construction crew for around some months. I got fired for punching the foreman. Before you start feeling too bad for the guy, let me tell you. It wasnt the YMCA.

Before that some delievry job, after that. Nothing. And it is pretty sweet until I hook up with something else sooner or later.
