I don't generally like these kinds of movies. They don't appeal to me.

But I saw it a week or two ago when I was in California and thought it was incredible story telling. There may have been minor problems here and there, and some of the "facts" are disputable, but all told, it was a good story and a good movie, and everyone in the movie played their role well.

You ask how someone could degrade this movie... it's simple. Politics. Everyone has an agenda, and this movie doesn't fit their agenda. This movie is incredibly patriotic, and though people don't want to admit it, this is technically a propaganda film, as it glorifies war, which is incredibly gruesome.

Anyone who has an "anti-war" agenda might dislike this. Anyone who has a "pro-war" agenda might see this movie as counter-productive. It's complex bullcrap you and I shouldn't care about. Basically, just pointless politics. Another thing politics isn't good for.

I have seen it. While it was very well done, and Cooper's acting was top-notch, it was a little too "in your face" patriotic for my taste. It really showed the war from a the "American hero" point of view, but, based on the title, is that surprising?

I don't watch a movie for my political agenda and don't really care either way, but I do find it a little distracting or annoying when a political point, especially, war-glory patriotism, is so loud.

The sound mixing was phenomenal, especially in surround sound at the movies. There were often a million things happening at once from several camera angles, but the sound effects where always well blended.
