Everyone else i know, have their own favorite music genre
Rock, Pop etc, etc
But i only like Video game music. It's genre doesn't mattre as long as it is in a video game..i like it(Dance games that use popular music are an exeption)

Do one of you also have this?
It's akward when someone asks me: "What is your favorite music?" "umm..video game music?" "..ok"

Lol I'm kind of the same, at least 60% of the music I listen to comes from video games.
You should just say that you listen to Alternative, since I believe it falls under that category.

Maybe weird to some other people, but I totally understand your concerns.  Just a few weeks ago I was telling my dad how much I hate it when people ask me what my favorite genre of music is, and he didn't really understand because he just assumed that everybody had a genre...  Well I have VG music, bottom line.  I also like a lot of the remixes of my favorite music, so it might be that there is an underlying theme to video game music that has evaded people, but still present enough to have a following, I don't know, now I feel like I'm over thinking it

I wouldn't say it's weird but if you're doing to be specifically different and contrary or you somehow try to pull of some sort of "popular music and radio music is lame," then I'd think negatively towards you.

Music makes connections with memories and both negative and positive thoughts and emotions.  If all your experiences are video games and you live and die with characters, stories, and game progression, it makes total sense you would connect emotionally with songs from those stories.  You can hear a song and remember the first time the main character had to kill a collosus or whatever those guys were called.  You can hear music and remember playing Halo for the first time with your friends.  You can remember the emotion you felt when you saw the hook in Gears of War.
