So I've been using the VNES java plug in to play final fantasy 1 today, but I can't seem to copy my save code.

When I press F10 the code comes up in a window, but CTRL-C doesn't work and I can't right click on it to copy it either.

Is this code automatically saved somewhere somehow?

I've got the newest java update, and have tried it on both Windows 7 and 8, also under chrome and fire fox.

Any help is appreciated. I am new to this site so I apologize in advance if this is the wrong thread to post in, I know how forum people can be. I honestly could not find a search option for the forum though.

Thanks

Unfortunately this is due to an update that Oracle added to Java sometime in 2011. The result was a break in the way the save codes work with vNES.

There has not been a fix implemented to this day.

that makes a lot of sense. this is why i hate java.
well anyways i have already downloaded the rgr plugin so I could play the nes version of final fantasy vii. from what i can tell this should keep all my saves stored on the vizz servers, and it has save states.
thanks for the quick reply

A while back, the saves made with using the RGR Plugin were stored on Vizzed's server (probably like 2 years ago I'm guessing without looking it up), but they are now stored locally on your computer. Reason is to reduce site strain and potential loss of save files.

Ok so just to be clear, there is absolutely no way for me to keep a save from the VNES emulator? I've left my game open all night hoping there might be a trick to do it. Would've been nice if there was a warning message before I started getting into final fantasy. Even the help page about saving didn't address this. Oh well, I guess that's the way she goes eh?

edit: Oh and I actually did find something that may be helpful to others. There is a way you can change your java security policy settings, but of course if you change it while something is running it wont take effect immediately, you have to restart your browser.

Copy and Paste in Java Applets

edit: I guess maybe I'm too new to post links, or I did something wrong. Here is the url

Awesome find:

https://blogs.oracle.com/kyle/entry/copy_and_paste_in_java

Did it work to allow the copy/paste for the vNES Save code?
