Totts : That was the wrong move. Take "Weird" Al Yankovic, for example. He makes fun of all these popular songs. Do you think he has to ask for permission? No! A parody is meant to be unexpected. If anyone made a parody of me, they wouldn't have to tell me! This board has a democracy (whatever that means)! You can't take away everyone's freedom just because you had your feelings hurt.

mario102 : Umm, not sure that you choose a good example here, I think you will actually find that "Weird" Al Yankovic actually has always asked for permission to do a parody as a courtesy to the artists that he wishes to parody. So I wish people would actually follow his example here.

Also have you considered that it might come across as quite offensive to speak to someone in the way you did to me?

I really think this thread is getting out of hand and that it needs to be closed before people keep bashing Totts for expressing her feelings.  I may not agree with her feelings, but that doesn't make them less valid.  Besides, instead of helping her heal from her hurt, people seem more intent on pouring salt into her wounds.  Again, I don't have to agree with the way she feels, but KNOWING that she's sensitive, many of the respondents here aren't showing her respect, because they likely don't understand her and don't want to.
