The computer I usually play RGR games on it just crashed, so now I have to use this computer. The only problem is that this computer can't play RGR games. Whenever I try, they attempt to download for 30-60 seconds and then give me and error message at the bottom of the window:

I am using Firefox as IE and Chrome don't work on this computer. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin and its mirror downloads several times. What else could be causing this problem and what are some other possible solutions?

I have access to another computer that I can play on, but my access to that computer is limited and I would really like to get the RGR working on this one.

There are fixes available for IE and Chrome for the plug in, but more importantly, does this occur with ever game or just this one?
If its only this one, it would seem that the rom has become corrupted and needs to be deleted and redownloaded.

Let me know if its just this game or all of them before we continue

vanelan : This happens to every game on every system that I've tried. And I can't use IE or Chrome. My computer freaks out on me when I try to use them.

Uninstall the plugin and delete all the data in c:programdatavizzed
You will need to press windows key+r and type that into the dialog box.

Delete the VizzedRgrPlugin folder and that should clear all your data.

Reinstall the plugin, close and reopen your browser and let me know what happens then.

vanelan : I did as you suggested. After reinstalling it and reopening my browser, it still did the same thing.

Can you please explain what you mean by your "computer freaks out" when you try to use Chrome or IE?

It sounds like there might be another issue here...

vanelan : This computer is full of issues. That's why I always used the other one until it crashed. This computer won't download the other browsers properly, it will decide to not connect to the internet with them, and it won't display pages properly. I don't know why it has a problem with them but then runs Firefox just fine.

To rule out any issues with specific games, try this one and tell me if you get the same error:
https://www.vizzed.com/play/legend-of-zelda-the-nes-online-nintendo-nes-748-game

I know it works...so it shouldn't give you any issues with downloading.

First of all, you should have some sort of AV program on your computer along with MalwareBytes, as from my understanding they do different things and you don't seem to have one. Popular ones are Avast! and AVG, although I'm rather partial to Comodo Internet Security (all free options).

Addressing the problems this computer seems to have (as one of these issues it seems to be full of could be causing this problem), I would run a full scan of your computer, just in case. Some AV companies have bootable discs you can use if Windows prevents you from running a scan.

-------

Also, have you tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling it? Or you could see if Opera will install on your computer and not freak out, and see if the RGR works in that.

-------

If it comes to it (and I have seen this happen) your computer could be so screwed up that you need to wipe it and (re)install the operating system. It looks like you're using XP, so I'd say that if you do that, you might want to use a Linux distro instead of reinstalling XP, due to the EOL. I've helped a few people start using Linux, and I've written a guide on playing the RGR on Linux as well.

-------

I apologize for the multitude of ideas. I've got multiple ideas of what could be wrong here and not enough patience to play 20Q to figure out which it is, hence my  "It could be this or this or this". Whatever the problem is though, I would still install that AV if you don't have one already.

Shadow53 : If you don't have patience for questions to try and find a solution, then please don't reply to these threads.

Thebiguglyalien : Try to disable Malwarebytes before trying a new game.
If that works, there may be a way to add an exceptions to it.

vanelan : I got Malwarebytes out of the way and I'm having limited success now. The initial problem appears to be solved, as the games are starting now. Some of them aren't playing properly, but I think that's because my computer just doesn't have enough memory. For example, all of the portable systems and the NES work, but SNES and later are crashing and playing in slow motion.

What are your computer's specs?

And what other systems have you tried besides SNES and NES?

vanelan : This is what I was able to find for my specs. If you want to know anything else, you'll have to tell me how to find it.
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)
System Model: HP dx2000 MT (PX834AA)
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.40 GHz
Memory: 1526MB RAM
Sega Genesis doesn't work. When I use Gens Emulator, there's no video, just audio. Mednafen doesn't work on any console. It plays the game, but it loads so badly that the game is in slow motion and becomes unplayable.
GB, GBC, and GBA all work assuming I'm not using Mednafen.
Sega Master System plays, but it does so really slowly and while still playable, it's not worth it.
The plugin crashed altogether when I tried to use either of the N64 emulators.

It would seem its a video card issue.
I looked up the system model and that one doesn't have a particularly good video card for gaming.

I had one more idea.
After loading the game, close your browser and only leave the game window open when you try mednafen.
Sometimes the rotating ads cause issues with some users due to the amount of memory they can take up.
