So, I don't really read the comics unless I am at the library and have nothing else to read. 

I know that Deadpool was the samurai that was in Striker's unit of mutants from XMEN Origins: Wolverine. I just do not know how he went from epic samurai dude to red and black outfit. I've tried looking it up, but Wikipedia is just that: Wikipedia. So, I would like an account from somebody that is actually a comic book nerd, and actually knows the story. 

Deadpool was never any sort of samurai or warrior or anything like that. That's one of the reasons why that movie is hated so much. Please just forget that movie altogether, especially when talking about Deadpool. Here's his actual origin:

Wade Wilson was a mercenary until he was diagnosed with cancer. With all attempts of treatment exhausted, he went to what was his last hope: The Weapon X Program. Yes, this was the same program that coated Wolverine's skeleton and claws with an indestructible metal. The Weapon X Program figured out how to replicate Wolverine's healing factor into Deadpool, curing his cancer. It had some side effects however, such as driving him completely insane and giving him this crazy idea that he's just a character in a comic book. Now he's still a mercenary, but he's impossible to kill (that's another story altogether involving the personification of death not taking him in). He is a weapons expert with all sorts of weapons, and he's most well known for being the "Merc with a Mouth", meaning he's a mercenary that never shuts up.
