My favorite game from the past would be Super Mario Brothers 3. When I was younger I stayed with my grandparents. They had a Nintendo and a good collection of games. For fun when I came home from school we would sit round the TV as a family and have a blast taking turns if somebody died. Playing for hours till we completed world 8. My favorite present game would be Rock Band on Play Station 2. I would be on the guitar my brother on the drums my dad on the base and my mom on the mic, She's not a vary good singer but there is nothing like hanging out with the family.

Interesting question. Suprised no one else has answered this. I mean it is similar to some other post about favorites but you're also asking for stories of our times with these games. So bear with me cuz here goes the old man. My experience with video games started with Wizardry and Mech Warrior on the PC. I would go over to a friend of mines house and play one of those each time for a couple of hours ... usually after we would finish a session of Dungeons and Dragons or Shadowrun ( pen and paper version ). After that my next memorable game would have to be the first Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, and Wizardry on the Nintendo. I would hurry home from school and as soon as I was done with homework and all I would play those for hours. As for family games like you described where we took turns playing then I'd have to agree with Super Mario Brothers 1,2, and 3. Where for  we differed was we also did that with Castlevania, Blaster Master, Mike Tyson's Punchout, Zelda, and Contra. Although I do have to admit Contra, Blaster Master, and Castlevania was more just me and my brothers. My parents liked the play the others. Oh and hard and heavy for me and one of my brothers playing the game Ninja Gaiden. I've had lots of other games for different systems I have liked. Killed many brain cells, hours, coins, and good chunks of my life to many of those games. It was all fun tho and sometimes I still put some of them on just for the nostalgia.

My favorite game from present would be legend of Zelda wind waker. I took me along time to beat ganon but I was super happy when I completed the game.

My favorite games I have several so here I go

Mega Man 7 for SNES-  I'am a Mega Man player so I wanted this game so bad. But another problem was I did not have the SNES. For Christmas I think it was 1996. My parents got me the SNES and they also got me Mega Man 7. Its still one of my all time favorites.

Mega Man X2 and X3 for SNES- I got both of these games for Christmas (1997) I believe. I remember being so happy cause I wanted and liked this games. As I had rented both from the movie store (Block Buster). They are one of my all favorite X games

Mega Man V for Gameboy- I had played this game in stores and wanted it so bad. But I could never get it. Later I found a copy at a used game store and I purchased it. Its just a special game and I play it to this day.

Mega Man IV for Gameboy- I had played this one in stores as well. When I first came on vizzed this was one of the first games I played

Yoshi's Island for SNES- I played this game in the stores and it became my favorite. I wanted this game so bad. Just like I got Mega Man 7 for Christmas my parents also got me this one.

Mega Man 5 for NES- This game was so awesome I got it and I played it and played it some more. I had so much fun playing this game and guess what I still play it.

Mega Man 4 and 3 for NES- I remember seeing this games on clearance as the store  (Service Merchandise )was getting rid of NES games since the NES had been discontinued. I wanted these games so bad because its Mega Man. I got these games at clearance and played them

Donkey Kong Country for SNES- This game came with the SNES that my parents got me for Christmas. Its an all time classic

Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 for SNES- I got these around the same time. So I played them a lot and I remember when I was sick

Super Mario All Stars- I purchased this game because it had 3 of my favorite Mario Games from the SNES

Super Mario World-I got this game several years after it had come out. Very classic game

Mega Man Legends 1 and two for Play Station- I got this games for Christmas in 2001. These games were special because I had just gotten out of the hospital from being very sick. My Doctors said I would need to take it easy. So I thanked my Savior Jesus Christ  that I survived a serious condition. For Christmas I got these two games and since I could not really do nothing I played these two games on my Play Station.

MLB 2002 and MLB 2003 for PS- Me liking Baseball I got both of these games when they came out. One of my favorite PS games next to Legends

Mega Man X6- Its Mega Man need I say more. Had many memories playing this one.

Mega Man X8 for PS 2, Banjo and Kazooi I and 2 for N64- Got this for my Birthday after having brain surgery to remove a tumor. Again thanking my Savior Jesus Christ  that I survived. The Tumor was non Cancerous. But my Birthday was coming up a few days after that. So since I was told to take it easy. My Parents got me these three games.

Kirby's Adventure for NES and Mega Man 6- I got these two games for Christmas and played them a lot.

Mega Man III for GB-I got this game at a store in my area that has used games like this. Played it a lot.

Kirby and the Amazing Mirror for GBA- After getting off from my job I had at that time. I went to the store (Wal Mart) and saw this game that was on sale. I got purchased it and it became one of my favorite Kirby Games

I know this is long, but these are my favorite games. I had so many memories playing them. Glad there is a site like this that allows me to play all of these classic games

Pokemon Yellow version I like the pokemon games since I was a child I always collect the pokemon cards before when I really like pokemon. Now that I get older I prefer to play pokemon games and Nintendo is the best for me because of the games they made. The adventures to be a pokemon master and beat the elite four is the best feeling of all in playing pokemon.
The other one is Super Mario Brothers 3 and Super Mario Games are the best game (The second is pokemon) that nintendo made.

If I have to pick one, then it is definitely
Final Fantasy VII.  I have played so many games on so many different
systems, and I still have not found one game that is better.  The 3D
graphics were ground breaking, and the story was incredible.  It was so intricate
and complex, and it is hard to find a better story in any other franchise.  The
materia system was a great way to develop characters, and it is still my
favorite leveling system. I think the large number of side quests give you a
ton of extra hours of playability.  The
character development is amazing. Every single character has their own unique
story which is thoroughly explored in order to develop each one in to an
incredible stand alone character.  Nearly
20 years later, this is still by far the best game I have ever played.
