Hi! I have a Pavillion x2 Notebook with windows 8.1 and I'm having trouble running Super Metroid (or any game that requires a plugin, for that matter). I downloaded the plugin v2.0 on internet explorer and tried to run the game, and I got a message saying the pluggin wasn't found (and yes, this site is on my trusted site list). So, uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and I got the same result. So, I tried google chrome and dowloaded the pluggin again. This time it did show the download icon, but an error message would pop up saying 'Error intializing directinput' and said I needed Direct x8 or higher, despite the fact that I have directx11. Still, I tried reinstalling the pluggin again and got the same message. So then I tried to click the Mustafen option on the top of the screen and the game DOES work, but it's buggy and slow and unweildy to use. I've tried restarting the computer, updating the drivers, using a game controller, and I still can't get the game to run outside of the buggy video recorder mode.

Any advise?

You need to set vizzed to compatibility view to work properly with IE.

For chrome, you should need to allow the plugin to run.

I ended up fixing my problem: for anyone else in the future who has this issue, you need to have a mouse connected to the computer you're using. For some reason, that will do the trick.
