Hi just making a post for fun, I was thinking back to when I was younger and got my first Ps1 after playing NES for so long, It was so cool, so High tech, SO futuristic, needless to say I was excited to have my own after playing one at my friends, seeing the graphics, the fun we would have playing WCW Thunder or Monday Nitro, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, So Thinking back on the games I used to play, I wanted to see who else played them too and what your favorites are, Comment any stories you have to of the good old days!

The only actual games for the Psx, that I've played, would be Legend of Dragoon and Final Fantasy VII. I have no idea what a WCW Thunder, Monday Nitro, Tekken, Tiny Tank, and WFF Wrestlemania are. I know what Tony Hawk Pro Skater is (Not interested), Mortal Kombat (Yep, not interested), Crash Bandicoot(I know right), and Metal Gear Solid are.

Come to think about it, and I'm still fixated on The Legend of Zelda.

Hmm maybe I was into obscure games as a kid lol? the WCW ones were wrestling games, kind of pre cursors to smack down vs raw, tekken was a fighting game similar to MK, and tiny tank was cool you rolled around as a mini tank that could talk fighting bad guys and stuff.

I know that I want strawberry cake right now I seldomly play systems that aren't Nintendo. I forgot to mention Chrono Cross, which is a Psx game(You could say that I'm overly fond of RPG's).

I didn't really play a ton of PS1 as a kid, but when I did, I played Spyro 2. So Spyro 2 is the one for me.

Well going by that list to vote I had to go Mortal Kombat. My personal preference for games would be Ogre Battle, Final Fantasy 7, and Final Fantasy Tactics. Got a lot more I like but those three I could play over and over again.

Brain-Splattered : Yeah I guess the list were more or less games I connected with, but that's also why I love that this is a site with a blog because you guys will tell me games that were great for you and I can check them out, because I never had a ton money growing up so I mostly borrowed games from friends and stuff and had a small collection of my own games. But I love hearing suggestions and even stories about good times playing games I'm all for it! I was so stoked when I found cheat codes for tony hawk pro skater 2 where you could play as spiderman but with all the different suits too, His aerial moves he used his web sling, it was so awesome haha.

I remember playing numerous games on the PSx and liking them, such a Final Fantasy VII, Chrono Chross, (not sure if I got that right) Digimon World 3, Spyro games 1-3, Crash the Bandicoot games, and many more obscure titles from garage sales and things of the sort.

@ fettman89 Yeah I hear you. There are a lot of other games I liked from different genre but the 3 I named stood out for me. I felt I needed to come in and throw out some game names that might be more along your liking. I liked all of them and to me you can do no wrong giving them a try. Enjoy.
Fighting - Bloody Roar, Samurai Showdown, Dead or Alive, King of the Fighters, and my favorite Dynasty Warriors.
Adventure - Brave Fencer Musashi, Overblood, Silent Hill, Grand Theft Auto, and Castlevania.
Rpgs - Alundra,  Arc the Lad, Azure Dreams, Suikoden, Breath of Fire ( any of the series ), Grandia 9 ( also any of this series ), Brigandine, Legend of Legaia, and any of the Persona games ( Shin Megami Tensei ).
Arcade - Any of the compilation games ( Namco Museum vol. 1, 2, 3 , etc... ), Megaman ( any of the series ).
Simulation - Monster Rancher ( any of the series ) and Dragon Seeds.
Strategy - Civilization, Front Mission ( any of the series ), Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth, Master of Monsters: Disciples of Gaia, Monster Seeds, Jade Cocoon, Saiyuki: Journey West, Vandal Hearts, and Warhammer.
Horror - Koudelka, Resident Evil ( most of this series is good ), and Clock Tower, D, and Alone in the Dark.
I'm not a big sports or racing gamer but the only sport one I can think to recommend would be - Ready 2 Rumble.

I'd say crash bandicoot, but even more so spyro. You're missing quite a few big ps1 games and franchises on this list. But whatever works I guess.

taterii : Yeah I'm sure the list is no way near complete, but like I said, growing up a poor kid these were basically the titles I had growing up, and at the time it was amazing just having a ps1 regardless of what games I had, All my friends had one, and now I had one too so I was in, life was good, And I mean if you want like a complete list of ps1 games that were cool instead of ones I was only familar with, I think theres a few article/lists you can google for, but id rather people tell me about their experiences insteadof like reading about what the game is and seeing a picture, this way I can learn more like if it's worth playing, if the fighting system is less than stellar, little details like that.

The games I had for the Psx that were really really good you don't have. Final Fantasy Tactics, Suikoden, Legend of Legaia, Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Cross, Grand Turismo, Crash Team Racing, Wild Arms, Grandia, Vagrant Story, Castelvania: Symphony of the Night.

If you only ever get a chance to play one of the games I mentioned play Final Fantasy Tactics. It does Final Fantasy better than any other Square Enix game ever has or probably will. The characters are lovable, the sound track is fantastic, the story is well written, the side quests are challenging and interesting, and the combat was so good that people have been trying and failing to replicate it for decades.

@ tiropat You'll never get all the games on here because there are just too many to name and you won't get everyone to agree what is the best games. Everyone likes different genres and even different technicalities of each game ( could be the graphics, story, etc... ). I disagree with you saying we were missing some really good ones because most of the ones you named I put on my earlier post. Although I will agree with you on the one game of that list that Fettman89 has to play.

Brain-Splattered : So basically the final fantasy one is like, the ultimate final fantasy game of the time? I'll admit I was interested in final fantasy when I was younger because I thought it was like dungeons and dragons type stuff, but saw it was kind of futuristic at least to me and never really tried it out, although I"m willing to now because I have more varied tastes than when I was like 7 or 8.

Fettman89 : No it isn't the end all Final Fantasy game. If you have played other FF games then there will be parts you think could have been done better. It has a huge cult following because of how cohesive the world is; everything fits together from the setting to the enemies, from the music to the story. When you play the game the entire world just feels right and at the time it was released the full motion video scenes really helped to bring out the sense of scale. The world is bigger than you are and lets you feel it really early on.

The story is also above average for a FF game, putting a good amount of time into making each member of your party feel like a person who has their own motive for fighting be it wanting to better the world, revenge or even greed. That said it is still just a game it is good but don't expect it to do everything perfectly.

(Edit) Well I feel stupid giving you a review of FF7 when Brain Splattered told you to play FFTactics. Whoops.

FFT is set in a medieval time period with knights and archers, alchemy and magic. The combat is totally different than other FF games which is why it is a spin off instead of a numbered game. The combat revolves around strategy rather than straight power so there are many ways to play each fight. The job classes also bring a lot of replay ability to the game because you can play with totally different parties every time you want to pick it up. There is a tutorial for the game accessible from the start screen so you can skip it if you don't feel it necessary and come back to it if you ever get stuck or confused.

The main draw of the game is the story though. You aren't fighting to stop one big bad, but fighting subversion and manipulators. The characters are really well developed and opponents you fight have different reasons for fighting. There are quite a few touching moments and they make the game replaying at least once just so you can see the different the motive for events that happen earlier in the game.
