Are parents responsible for teaching their children about sex. Most schools tactfully have sex ed classes or health class that cover sexual intercourse. So is it the parents responsibility to educate their children about this or should schools be responsible. I personally think parents should be responsible.

Yes, parents are responsible for teaching their children everything.  The ultimate responsibility of a child's upbringing is his or her parent.  Those are the people that *should* spend the most time with you.  Teachers worry about 30 kids every hour, they can't focus on one kid for the betterment of society.

The internet is a terrible place to try to learn anything except home repairs on Youtube.  Everything else, especially about sexuality and male/female relations, is completely backwards, offensive, and not how the real world should work.  I see Yahoo Answers and I read the marriage/divorce section.  Everyone who posts there posts because they had a terrible experience and they come to hate on the other gender.  That's not how healthy, nurturing relationships work.

Don't trust the internet about anything when it comes to socialization.  End of story.

Schools also can teach the physiology but they shouldn't teach the decision-making methods.

blasife :

Who could possibly qualify more than someone who's spent their whole life raising and loving a child?

Granted, parents are not always that great, I find a lot of them do care, and don't want their children to end up as some kind of a s***.

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

Of course they are. They are in constant contact with their children until about age 5. They have to make sure they are well-prepared to face the big world ahead of them. It's even truer for parents with particular values (religious mainly) or in a minority situation. If you don't teach your language and culture it will die out

blasife : I think neither to be honest. Honestly I mostly think they should learn it on their own, from the friends and the internet. Well, my parents are what you would call helicopter parents. If they had their way, I wouldn't ever know about 'it'. They won't really even talk about it much, and most of what I've learned has been through my friends. And schools are so corrupt you can't trust them with anything.

Absolutely I think it is the parent's responsibility.
I'm not saying it will end up being the parents which the child gets most of their knowledge from, but certainly they need to keep them from fearing it but also make sure they know it's not a joke. Kids will always find out the bad stuff from friends/internet.

As everyone has already said, I also think it should be the main responsibility of the parents to teach their children about sex. However, I think the school should teach it as well because, lets face it, kids and teenagers aren't always with their parents and school makes up a big chunk of that separation time. Heck, I'm already a College student and it's still mandatory for us to take Marriage, sexual relationships and other related subject EVERY semester. In all fairness though, it helps a lot.

Gotta agree with most everyone else. The schools can teach the gist of it but they cannot touch the moral and responsible side of sex and everything that comes with it. The parent should be their main teachers for that because it is their responsibility to teach their kids about life in general and get them ready to go out into the world to handle whatever may come at them in the process. The also have to teach them morals and impart to them their wisdom of consequences for wrong or right choices.

As long as someone is responsible for people not getting knocked up or getting diseases at an early age, is all good. In my case I think I have both to thank for not having to be a teenage dad or not having to get anything else that was unwanted. So I guess I think it is a good thing if both the parents and the schools will tell you about it.

Look, lets be realistic.
Most people learned from a friend, of a friend, of a friend, who was told by a friend of a friend, of a friend. It's a very miseducated cycle and isn't exactly the best. However it's a step up from searching it on Google.
However, I feel the decision is up to the parent/guardian. I mean, look at "curse words," we all learn them eventually no matter how hard it is to prevent your kids from learning them. There isn't any point trying to postpone a child (of a reasonable age) from learning about the "beauty' of life.
