I wouldn't really call the Gamecube old at all, it's only last gen.
I prefer the older generation consoles to the new, they last alot longer, have a better selection of games, and are generally just better all around.
There's only one last gen console that is worth mentioning, and that's the PS2.

I am definitely a huge fan of the older consoles and their games, and would always pick them in a second. However, I think the modern consoles do have merit to them, as they have pushed the envelope in several areas. Plus, they do have some really cool games, Smash Bros. Brawl not the least of them. But yeah, still prefer the older ones, so far.

I'm not really sure what the point of this thread is...

the RETRO Game Room is for OLD games. Gamecube is not old. I think it's got to be pre-2000 as a console to be considered retro at all . I think the PS2 was around that time so basically everything before PS2 could be considered.

The other problem is bandwidth. Any consoles that used cd's instead of cartridges are going to abuse bandwidth for this site. It has to be cartridge only or David will go bankrupt.

I'm going to go with new on this one, bucking the trend. I really don't understand the hate the Wii gets. I mean, I'm like a lot of people: Grew up on the SNES and followed every Nintendo console since (N64, GameCube, all the handhelds even), and I still love the Wii. I think the first party games are amazing, and I DO think they even beat their amazing SNES counterparts. This applies for my three most favorite series of all time: Zelda, Metroid, and Mario. And the cool thing is, they're not done yet. We've got Galaxy 2, Other M, and that mysterious Zelda Wii coming up next year. So yeah, I really like the Wii so far.

They able more custom features and make it more possible to make it feel more like your own, they can hold music and use the web as well and link you to players around the world. Like myself. I'm the only one in my family that plays video games, it gets boring, but because of the new technology I can play with others that have my same passion. The old consoles can't do that. Definitely the new consoles for me.
