So, I had djinn try to help me ( aka, lilwildwolf21 ) , but, I don't have a cord that he has. Well, I went and talked to my fellow XBOX LIVE Community Ambassadors, and the guy that helped me said all he has was the USB charging cord like I had, but yet he was able to play games on the PC with it.

Can anybody walk me through on what to do, if it is even possible without the cord that lilwildwolf21 is talking about?

tRIUNE : I thought you might know, since you know so much about the RGR as it is.
vanelan : Same to you. Do you know, perhaps?

I read somewhere that the charge cable can't be used to connect it, but I would think you need to drivers to get windows to recognize it if the charge cable does work.

vanelan : The XBOX Ambassador said he only had the charging cord, and had me install something from xbox.com.

See if this works:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows

That's the controller driver from microsoft.
I would think that is the only thing you would need, but I really don't have much experience with 360 controllers with windows personally.

I tried a while ago with a wireless XBOX 360 controller in order to play games on my laptop and I used a charging cord, hoping it would work. But I read somewhere on the internet it only charges up the controller and can't be used to connect the controller to your laptop in order to play games. Actually, there are two solutions. The first option, you buy another XBOX 360 controller with a cord, like the one I now have (on a side note, it's an Afterglow XBOX 360 controller). Or, the second and last option: you look for a wireless device like this one to connect the controller to your computer and keep your wireless controller.

I think you'll have to install a driver so this can work properly, unless your pc recognizes the controller. Then, the driver is useless.

If that was the only thing you needed to do, you should just plug it in and Windows should recognize it. If it doesn't, then I don't think it will.

I did read the same thing that Laian did though. It's just a charge cable and doesn't connect to PC other than for power.

So unless you can tell us otherwise that it worked, you would need a wired controller or a wireless receiver.

Laian : That is what lilwildwolf21 has.
vanelan : Well, I plugged it in, and it automatically downloaded something. Then, the XBOX Ambassador had be download that link that you gave me in the beginning.

With it plugged in,  press windows key+R and type in joy.cpl and press enter.
If it shows up, you should be good to go.

vanelan : " XBOX 360 Controller through Plug & Play Installed. Ready to Go "

I typed in the joy.cpl after key+R, and nothing came up. If that was the last possible thing, then I guess go ahead and close this, unless you have something else to suggest.

The joy.cpl thing should have brought up a window showing what controllers if any are connected.

Edit: Screenshots! Yay!

win+r should bring this up:

Then you type in joy.cpl:

This window should come up:

I  currently have to controllers connected, so its blank.

Alright.
You said nothing came up so I wanted to make sure you were at least getting the game controller settings.

Sorry we couldn't help.
Closing.
