I bought a "BETA Test Ticket, to try out "CD-i" games.

Now, it says, "You own cdi = Free Play," ...

... so, I click to play a CD-i game, and I get a window that says, "You do not have enough Viz to Buy and Play this game."

Can anyone with a BETA Test Ticket tell me what the point of having one is, or was this just a complete waste of Viz?

Very good question, thank-you for saying that to me, sorry for your lose as well. I will monitor this thread as well to see the hopeful answer from the mods, I think this is a very serious, and concerning issue, as those are the two systems I have been saving my Viz up for. Hopefully in a little while we can get those two system as actual items, in the site's store.

No bull sheet...  I have YET to find a single purpose to the 10,000 Viz I spent for a BETA Ticket.

Nil.  Nothing.  Nathan.  Nada.

It'd be nice to know what I spent those Viz on.

Do MODS even know what a "BETA Ticket" does?  (Honest question!)

The Beta Test ticket will currently allow early access to games for Sega Saturn and CD-i. However, you will still have to purchase those games because they are CD-based systems. Because the CD games have a much larger file size than regular non-CD games, playing them costs Davideo7 extra bandwidth fees, therefor they won't be free to play. To compensate for this, you can purchase from the Item Shop the V-Machine CD which will allow free access to CD games.

MeatAndPotatoes :

tRIUNE basically answered it, the BETA ticket is just that, a ticket to engage in a BETA feature of the site before anyone else.

It doesn't mean you get the games for free, it just means you are given the ability to purchase the games before anyone else gets a chance to.

This is better than the use it had a couple of years ago.

Years ago, there were no features in beta, and thus, nothing that the beta ticket would allow you to do. It resulted in absolutely nothing changing, except losing 10,000 Viz.

Now, with more features being pumped out in the past year or two, the beta ticket has purpose, albeit a small one. It's definitely more for the anxious members of the site, who want to play games or test features that could be buggy and not work before anyone else. Kind of like real beta testing.

Thankyou for the information, I was gonna get the beta ticket, (still am want to be able to play those two systems) just gonna get the playstation item first then the V console CD first. So basically if you have the beta ticket, playstation item, and the CD V Console you should be able to play all games. To the op srry you weren't happy with the beta ticket, at least your able to play games that you originally couldn't. And the backstory with the beta ticket is horrible. I am glad they changed it. Hopefully they keep using it like put at least one new console into the beta ticket area.

I suppose this could be considered answered or resolved?

Again, sorry you don't like the beta systems.
You can always sell it back (although I think you get 1/2 your Viz back)
