a good game doesnt need to have good graphics but it looks real cool to have good graphics in first person shooters like CoD mw2 cause it makes i feel kinda real but i know about lots of retro games that are awesome and thats why i joined this site cause i wanted to play lots of retro games i actually dont care so much about graphics and i dont think anyone who joined this site cared so much about graphics my opinion is that graphics doesnt make games its the story and the gameplay that makes the game

Graphics do not make the game, they just add to the experience. If I play a game like MW2 or crysis, I woulden't play them for the graphics, I would play them for the story, not for the graphics.

I agree with nearly everyone here. Graphics do not necessarily make a game good. Ine of my favourite examples woild have to be Grand Theft Auto (the original). The graphics to that game were terrible, but the gameplay is so fun to me that I don't even think twice about the graphics.

I suppose there are exceptions, but I can't really think of any just now.

Or those of us in our late twenties. I played the original Mario, which was hitting some creatures as they moved around the screen, just wanting to knock you out. But truly peoples, graphics are an integral part of the game play. Don't front like they don't make ANY difference. Would you play your cool new $60 game if it had Game Boy graphics? I think not. Now don't get me wrong, I do enjoy games for a lot more than graphics, but visual presentation is a large part of the appeal as humans are visual creatures.

I say "No", graphics have NEVER made the game in what games I play. Though I admit graphics are a part of the game, they are not as important as things like gameplay and other things like play value. Some of my favorite games don't have good graphics, but I like them. Games on the NES didn't have the best of graphics, but that doesn't mean there bad, does it?

To be honest,i'd rather play an 8-bit game then a graphical good game.
8-bit is still cathcy and it is a form of art(in my opinion)

So graphisch don't have any priority to me,and if its grapchical awesome, it doesn't make much difference to me.

But remakes of 8-bit games for ds,wii ect are horrible in my opinion!

I am going to use a comic book reference to answer this question. A good story is what drives. Good art helps a good story. If you have great art and a sub par story then youve got a sub par product. You are however allowed a more sub par art with a great story. In fact if you have a tremendous story and a sub par artist you will have a legendary masterpiece and an artist who is now considered to be "stylish" instead of below average! Graphics do not make a great game. Play some of the older games like Contra or Super Mario Brothers. Compare them with some of the games of today. When you beat Contra for the first time tell me you didnt run around the house yelling "Take THAT Red Falcon"

No, becuase just look at Killzone that games grafics were good the game was awful. but super mario 64 and others off that time where really fun games so grafics do not and will never make the game.

The answer is no, graphics don't make the game. But that is what most developers believe today as they put out really pretty crap. And then 6 months later they put out a sequel that is the same game but prettier. Not all companies do this though which is what keeps me still gaming. I believe some of the best games ever are 8-bit games.
