Synopsis
During middle school , Yuuta Togashi was plagued with “8th grader syndrome” which at the time was fine, but now that he is a high school student it embarrasses him to no end . He wants nothing more than to forget that period of his life , he starts his first year with a hopeful outlook . Of course things are not so easy , he quickly meets Rikka Takanashi , a girl in the same year as him who is going through the same embarrassing crisis he once went through . And she is not someone he can avoid .
Genre 8
I think it mostly caters towards comedy and romance , big surprise ! Though it is a slice of life in its own way seeing as it is pretty much daily life for these characters . It also has a bit of drama in some aspects . That is one thing I did not really expect coming into this was that I would have my heart strings pulled over some situations .
Story 8
The premise of the series is actually pretty unique in my opinion , the everyday feel of it has its own spin on everything although the situations may feel a bit clichéd at times anyway . It offers something new and refreshing yet calm and relaxing . If you really look at the story as a whole it is pretty obvious how relatively normal and typical it is but the fact that it has all these other features to it , really brightens the whole thing up and offers a new experience .
Characters 9
True to their calling Kyoto Animation offers distinct , adorable characters that are always a joy to watch . I know the synopsis may give it away but there is a lot of character development throughout this series , and probably not in ways that you think they will . The characters all pair well together and their interactions bring out their personalities on a way that only a good design could do . These characters have layers , they are not only surface deep and you can not take them at face value because their emotions are put out so realistically , they really think about how someone would feel in given situations . I would like to point out however that , that hair clip is outrageous and I do not know why it exists .

Like I said , Kyoto Animation made this series and you should know how much I appreciate their style by now . As always they are precise in their details and it shines brightly . Every aspect is thought through and brought to attention . Things you do not even notice are brought to life in such a way . With the aspect of the show , a lot of the scenes are made beautifully and show a really creative side to things . It is hard to not appreciate the effort , they as a team put into the making of their anime.
Sound 7
Probably the worst part of the series and it is not even bad . I enjoyed the art of the openings and endings more than I did the music though so I may be biased in this although this review is purely my own opinion on the series . The background music offers a nice touch on moments and and at other times a bit silly .
Addictiveness 8
As much as I enjoyed this series I do not know if it is something you would want to sit down and marathon . It is not a very long series but it is really a matter of preference . I think I watched this as it aired so I could not marathon it anyway unless I re-watch it . At times when the episode was over it was a bit upsetting that I had to wait for the next release and it is not something I ever even considered dropping .
Over-All 9
A delightful , relaxing and at the same time hilarious series to get into . I really enjoyed all the interactions between the characters and the over story of it all was nice to watch . This anime made great work of covering a broad array of feelings and was able to suck you into the same feelings as well . A definite recommendation to anyone that this would interest .
