So, the Cowboys released Michael Sam from their practice squad. The Cowboys were selling his jersey while he was on their Practice Squad, but I guess that won't be the case anymore.

Any theories on where he might end up?

Nowhere.  He's not very good and he calls attention to himself.  He was an excellent end at Mizzou and he got the job done at the collegiate level but it doesn't translate to the NFL.  Unfortunately, he's not going to find a place in the NFL.  Another team may pick him up for jersey sales but that's about it.  He doesn't have the speed and athleticism for the pro game.  He's going to be what a lot of guys ended up being: A great college player.

Also, he said he did not want to make it about him being gay.  But when he was trying out, he looked different than the team because of all the rainbow gear.  There's nothing be gay and the other players said the same thing but he's singling himself out and making himself different and 'important.'  Sure it's landmark and it is important but he's a distraction.  I wouldn't want him in the clubhouse or locker room because he's going to change things and call attention to what's happening.

Imagine the pressers after a game.  "How'd you play?"  "Great, I got off the edge and did a good job getting a push upfront for the backs to get through."  "What do you think about Michael Sam in the showers with you?"  "I, uh.... well, we.... really?  We have a black president, one out of three people on TV are gay.... does this matter?  We won a game."

It's like that.

Too bad Sam isn't good enough to sustain himself in the league.

thing1 : Making his orientation public helped him out for a bit, but he won't end up anywhere simply because he's not very good. Practice squad for a scrub team like Cleveland at best...
