The 3ds has a massive library of fantastic games that I would recommend to you in a heartbeat. Unfortunately though today I'll be reviewing one of the only 3ds games I hate with a burning passion, YOSHI'S NEW ISLAND!!! Now before I begin this review I'd like to take some time to talk about it's predecessor Yoshi's Island for the SNES. That masterpiece is one of the greatest platforming games ever made. It had a fantastic soundtrack, amazing boss fights, and it stood for what Nintendo is all about, innovation. So when I heard that Nintendo was making a sequel called Yoshi's New Island I thought "Finally Yoshi's going to star in an amazing game again!" But boy was I wrong... Everything that the original did right, Yoshi's New Island does wrong! Now for those of you who do like this game if I've offended you I deeply apologize but I need to make this review because so far there's only been one person who's made a review on this game besides me and people deserve to hear more than one person's opinion. Now with all that out of the way I'm ready to start this review!

Story: 3/10 Yoshi's New Island begins where it's predecessor ended, the stork delivered baby Mario and baby Luigi to their parents... Only problem is, THEY'RE NOT THEIR REAL PARENTS!!! So the stork goes to deliver them to their real parents when suddenly Kamek and his minions attack the stork and steal baby Luigi but baby Mario falls from the sky and falls on Yoshi's Island and with the help of the Yoshi clan, goes off to save baby luigi from the clutches of baby bowser and Kamek... Sound familiar? Well that's because other than the part where the babies get delivered to the wrong house, the story hasn't changed except for something at the end which I won't spoil. If it weren't for that surprise at the end I would've given the story a 1 but instead I'm giving it a 2.

Graphics: 2/10 Yoshi's Island for the SNES came out back in 1995 so you'd expect Yoshi's New Island to have much better graphics than it's predecessor right? Well guess what? You and I were both wrong! They somehow managed to make the graphics look worse than a game that came out 19 years ago! Honestly it would be better for you to compare both by looking up pictures of both games and comparing them that way.(when it comes to reviews graphics are my weakness) But I'm going to try to explain anyway. The original's graphics really set the mood for the game well, they were very unique and were beautiful. Unfortunately Yoshi's New Island somehow failed to best it's predecessor in this category despite the 3ds being a much more advanced than the SNES. Normally in this case I'd just give the graphics a 1 but I've seen worse so I'm giving it a 2.

Sound: 1/10 Yoshi's New Island biggest problem is that it has the absolute worst soundtrack I've ever heard in my entire life! I ask every one of you to who's reading this review to get on youtube and listen to at least one song from that game and then ask yourself, "is there any music... no wait is there any NOISE that I've heard that's more annoying than this?" If you answered no to this question I say wow good for you. Also I have a question to those of you who enjoyed this game, did this soundtrack give you a headache or migraine? If you answered no then I applaud your endurance because I swear when I was playing the game and was listening to the awful music this game has to offer I thought I was gonna go insane but fortunately I didn't, otherwise I wouldn't be making this review (Yay me!) Seriously though if I could give the soundtrack a 0 I would but I can't so I have to give it a 1...

Gameplay: 2/10 Yoshi's New Island has pretty much the same gameplay as the original swallow enemies to make eggs, throw eggs at enemies and other stuff to progress except they've added a new gimmick, MEGA EGGDOZER'S! Mega eggdozer's are giant eggs that are used to break certain things that otherwise can't be broken. That's the only "innovative" thing that this game has that Yoshi's Island didn't. It's pathetic really. You wanna know what's even worse, the vehicles that Yoshi could turn into in the Yoshi's Island are now only used in these pointles gyro censored minigames! Isn't hat just outrageous!? I certainly think so. Now I'm going to talk about the boss fights! Yoshi's Island for the SNES had some of the most innovative boss fights I've ever faced, such as Prince Froggy where you are inside his belly, and the final battle was incredible! Unfortunately Yoshi's NEW Island has extremely bland boss battles none of the bosses had any kind of innovation to them and they were just plain boring. How awful is that? Seriously they didn't even bother to make any memorable boss fights. All these things together combine to bring some of the worst gameplay on the 3ds. For that reason I give gameplay a 2.

Addictiveness: 1/10 When you combine one of the worst soundtracks in video gaming history and some of the worst gameplay on the 3ds, you get a video game that's not worth being played a second time. For that reason I give addictiveness a 1.

Depth: 5/10 Yoshi's New Island has plenty of levels, as well hidden things to find just like it's predecessor. Depth is the only thing this game does right, but the original has just as much to do as this game does so for that reason I give depth a 5.

Difficulty: 2/10 Yoshi's New Island has some of the easiest bosses I've faced in a video game. Fortunately though some of the levels are a challenging such as the final level. But for the most part the game is extremely easy so for that reason I give difficulty a 2.

Final thoughts: Yoshi's New Island is a slap in the face to not only fans of the SNES classic Yoshi's Island but it's also a slap in the face to Yoshi himself. He deserves better than this. If you're thinking about getting this game I'd highly recommend buying something else. The 3ds has so many great games to choose from. From the platformer genre alone, there's Super Mario 3D Land, Kirby Triple Deluxe, and Sonic Generations. Those are 3 games are all great and deserve to be bought. Yoshi's New Island on the other hand, does not. It's the worst sequel to a video game I've ever played. Yoshi's New Island, you earned yourself a trip to the back of my video game collection.

Overall: 2.5/10

Yeah... Yoshi's Island (GBA Port) was my second game, and my favourite game of all time! It sucked when I lost it, so when I heard they were making a new one, I was psyched! Unfortunately, after playing the first 2 levels of the game at a store, I was severely disappointed. My friend has the game, and he hasn't played the original of the DS version, but he also thought it was bad. Glad to see someone else has a similar opinion. Oh well, at least the DS version was good.
