I recently returned from the beach, staying at Compass Cove of Myrtle Beach. I actually stayed in two different My stay was very enjoyable, albeit shorter than anticipated. Now, as I'm sure I'm the first to review hotels, so, I'll be making my own categories. They will be: Comfort, Entertainment/Amenities, and Service.
Comfort 7.5: I had the opportunity to stay in two different rooms during my stay, one smaller room the first night, and one larger the next. The smaller was a two room, second floor average room. Nothing special, something you could find in any hotel really, except maybe with the exception of the kitchen set. My only real complaint of the room layout was that the bathroom sink was outside of the bathroom, so just imagine how dirty that bathroom side handle is. Eww. I also didn't like being second floor, because a beach hotel balcony needs some privacy, and when your low enough to check eye colour, that's pretty hard. I don't like having to draw the drapes when I go to sleep. But, the next morning, I got an upgrade! Ten stories later, and we arrive at the pinnacle of luxury! A hallway, three bedrooms, two HD televisions, (and a few CRT's) full kitchen, bar, and dining area. And, best of all, a huge, private balcony overlooking the ocean! This was by far the best room I've ever stayed in, and I stayed at a Penthouse Suite during last year's beach trip. Oh, and the beds, I don't think I've ever slept so well. I'm getting tired just thinking about their pillows!
Entertainment/Amenities 10: I'll foreshadow this section by starting with this: I lost count of the number of available pools at 12. When you stay at Compass cove, you get access to at least four sister companies. Just the one I stayed at had two or three separate pool areas. My favourite of them all had to have been the two water slides, and not just for the cute girl running them either! Even though it's not beach season, there would still usually be a line! There were even shuffleboard, um, courts? There was a six machine game room, with a hacked Ms. Pac-Man, which the website spells Mrs. Packman, where all the Pac-Dots are hearts. Beside that is a "secret" shuffleboard area, and three computers for "business". Under this facility is one of two restaurants, this one being the breakfast area. I was the only one who got the chance to eat here, and since I expected to return later when the others awoke, I didn't try as much as I wanted, but what I did try was delicious. I absolutely loved their bacon! Oh, and infinite Orange Juice, it was like heaven.
Service 9: There's not much I can say on this part, I regret to say. The only service people I interacted with were a few to get change, the two housekeepers that gave us new towels, and the already mentioned cute slide girl, oh, and the server at the restaurant. Well, at least I never heard any complaints from my mom. I just wish they had a repairman, because I tried six different ways to make that dang snack machine work. I never did get my gummy worms. So, all in all, my trip was very enjoyable, and I can't wait for our full month December trip!
