In all honesty, The Maze Runner was not what I thought it was. I always knew that there was a book, but I had never once read it or actually even considered the Possibility of reading it. I never read the book because I thought that it was bad, the entire time that I had known of the book, I had always thought it was one of those books that students were requires to read. I had always thought it was one of those books written by a respected author that only becomes successful because tens of thousands of students are reading it every year. I had continue to think this all the way up until I saw the trailer for the first time sometime in August.

The first time I had seen the trailer, I was alone at the movies and I was like, "wow, this is good, what is it?" Then when I had seen the title at the end of the trailer, I couldn't believe that was the Maze Runner, it looked like something that I could really enjoy. The 2nd time I saw the trailer, I was with a friend and I likes it even more, and at that moment, I told myself that I had to see it. I am really glad that I saw it because it was good, though I did see the movie in a luxury theater, so that could have been part of the reason why I had liked it so much.

When it comes to the effects of the movie, the only thing you need to know is the maze and the monsters. The maze itself is amazing, its gigantic and deadly. The monsters that live inside the are just as deadly and in terms of effects, the movie makers did not miss their chance to give it everything they had. There are scenes that take place inside the maze that are simply stunning. The first time that Thomas was inside of the maze and had to climb up the walls and jump over them was beautiful.

That's just some of the effects, there were a few scenes after that in the maze that looked even better. I did see the movie in prime though, which is supposed to rival IMAX, so every little detail jumped out at me in spectacular fashion. Overall, the graphical aspects of the film had been a huge sucess and it was beautiful to watch and in my opinion, one of the highest rated aspects of the movie.

When it comes to the acting, my thoughts are split. Personally, I thought the acting was superb, though I felt that the movie could have done a bit better with the casting. I know its a teen movie, so getting well known actors would be tough, but I would like to have known at least one of them. The most famous of the members was the star, I had no idea who he was but my friends knew him from Teen Wolf. When looking up the names of the actors, there was just one name I recognized, but I didn't even know his face because I only know him as one of the stars of Phineas and Ferb. Some of the other actors have appeared in numerous films and TV shows, but I feel they could have done better.

When it comes to the direct acting, some people would argue that they have done a good job, because the acting had been very good. Practically every single one of the actors had put together a brilliant performance that had allowed for the film to flow so smoothly. There had been some great scenes, no matter who was in them, and the dialouge was amazing.

Next up is the story, which had been just as good as any of the other aspects of the film. Of course, while I was watching it, I had no idea what was happening, or why it was happening, but of course I am going to have to read the other books in the series in order to find out. The movie starts off as the main character Thomas is brought into the maze with practically no memory. He meets a bunch of other kids who have already been in the maze and eventually he learns that he had worked for the people who had put the kids in the maze and that before he was put in, he had been watching them.

After a bunch of fighting, arguments, and near death, Thomas becomes a runner. Runners are a group of the kids who have been running throughout the maze for years and mapping it, looking for a way to get out of it. Once Thomas becomes a runner, there are plenty more fights, a ton of great scenes and a lot of death as he tries to lead the kids who followed him out of the maze. Well I can't really say anything more about the story or I would spoil everything, but I will say that its a top notch story if you can keep up with it.

Next up we have the sound of the movie which would have to be split up into two sections for this, the actual sounds of the movie and the effects of the theater. Like I had mentioned multiple times, I saw the movie at a state of the art theater where all the sound was amplified and upgraded. The theater had about a hundred speakers and sensitive leather chairs with speakers that would vibrate based on the sound level of the film. Still, even without the awesome theater, the sound would still have such a huge effect on the movie because the composers and sound editors have done a great job. In fact, if the sound of this movie hadn't been so great, I'm sure that the special theater would have picked a different movie to show during its first 3 weeks of being open.

The first aspect of the sound is of course the music, which is beautiful. It isn't one of my favorite movie soundtracks of the year, but its one of the best I have heard in relation to the movie. The movie is supposed to be quick paced, about running, about death and danger, and that's exactly what the music shows. At times the music will be quick and energetic, while at other times, it will be slow but will make everybody feel like they are in danger. On top of that, you had a great sound editor who made sure that all of the sounds fit and worked together, from the music to the screams and other various noises, it was all edited with such great effort that it came out being perfect. Again, another great aspect of the movie.

Well, that's it really, I hope I stirred up your curiosity and got you in the mood to see this movie. Overall, this movie was great, good theater or no good theater and I'm sure that you will like it too if you haven't seen it yet. I had personally loved the movie and my overall grade for it is going to be an 85.
