I guess I could be since I'm just sitting at work twiddling my thumb, but I don't feel like getting into the intense battle. Some people are just too intent to compete with. XD

Singelli : There's really only 4 users who seem to be actively competing for a top 5 spot in this competition which is unfortunate since the last TdV had many users. It's also unfortunate that it's only zanderlex and myself competing for 1st. Maybe things will pick up as the month goes on but this happened last time that Zanderlex competed, it resulted into the biggest blowout and the smallest amount of competition in Tour de Vizzed; see the graph from April 2014 to see what I mean:

zanderlex is just too strong of a competitor, probably the toughest ever in the TdV.

zanderlex : The points earned from the Game Adding action needs to be adjusted really. I mean it's not fair that you earn the same amount of CP from adding a non RGR game as you do adding an RGR game. Far more time goes into adding RGR games since it also involves finding and downloading the game, formatting it, sometimes renaming it and then having to upload it to 1 or 2 different servers. Adding a VGR game is basically 1 click once you figure out what's missing. I think I'll make adjustments to that today.

Yeah, I remember that TdV.  I think it's probably intimidating for people to compete with you and zander.  Not everyone can sit around and find things to do on the site all day.  Plus, most kids are in school and (hopefully) doing homework when they get home.  When they see how many points he has by the time they have free time, they probably don't even want to try.  (Or TdV is just losing its attraction, which I hope is not the case.)

Singelli : It's intimidating for me to compete with him, he is by far the superior being lol. In my defense though, a lot of the work I do on the site doesn't earn me CP.

McDavideo7s :  I told him that in a pm.  LOL  We were discussing a bit of the TdV and I asked him why he was stressing.  You simply have too much to do that's behind the scenes to really creep past him.  I mean... I know you could do it, but I highly doubt you want to just halt all your work, also.

Davideo7 : Well, now it looks like unless you miss a couple days, I won't be able to keep up without getting 1st in everything else.

zanderlex : True but it's still going to be tough since most of your points so far this month have been for those other 3 Jerseys. I already have a disadvantage that I've had all month long so far (I have a wife and kids) which means that I rarely throw up many points on the weekends. You still have a good shot.

Davideo7 : "throw up points"? I'm throwing up too from no sleep, but I guess I could fight. Historically, I haven't done too well with green, this is my 3rd DQ from overall for that.

I think a lot of it is that people aren't willing to spend all their time on the site to outscore zander. It's like the exact opposite of when I compete in the first three TDVs.

Back then, you could spend 12 hours a day on the site and not even make the top five.

The competition is definitely not what it used to be. Back then it was worth challenging the Vizwiz and Septembern's of the site.

I feel it's evidenced by people not competing even though it's early (when competition is supposedly at its highest).

Shame to see it happen.

legacyme3 : It's kinda surprising though but it could also have something to do with the fact that a lot of users have gone back to school recently. The last Tour de Vizzed in my opinion was the best TdV in the history of the competition. So many users were fighting furiously every day all day long. It was a close competition all the way until the very end.

The last one may have been more competitive (I kind of dominated Summer 2012 despite losing internet for a week.) But it is a different competitive climate now. It's practically impossible to fairly judge the difference in past TDVs to this one.

legacyme3 : Are you sure you're not being biased since that was the TdV you won? I've been actively participating in every Tour de Vizzed (I've made top 10 in all of them and top 5 in most of them and even top 3 in a few of them) so my viewpoint is that of someone who has competed in all the TdV competitions.

With each TdV, we add new rules and find ways to eliminate cheating so that it's more fair. Some of the early winners probably wouldn't win now with the current rules. Septembern, as example, won the Spring 2012 TdV but he did so by bending the rules and did a lot of things that are considered cheating now (such as doing a lot of tabbing).

I just think you have this mindset that everyone on vizzed progressively gets worst including the site itself. A lot of users have shared a similar mindset throughout the history of vizzed, even well before you signed up to the site. People have been saying things like "vizzed isn't what it use to be" since this current vizzed board started, literally.

Not at all. I think by the numbers it was the most active time in site history, which is why I said it. Like I said, the competitive climate is way different. Now a days, the leader in say, the blue jersey is only at 30 or so posts, whereas back then, it took 60 to even place top five for a day.

The red and green have also changed making comparison impossible. It's not even the same TDV anymore. Even if it was, activity seems way down from 2011-12, where it was at its peak. View count may be higher but people are making far fewer posts (and not even to boost quality, posts are the same as they've always been)

I'm trying to be objective about it and I'm going about it the best way I know how. By using numbers.

I never used the term "worst". That's putting words in my mouth.

I simply think things have changed, neither for better or worse. And I think it has to have. All things change. If they stagnate, then things never get better, and places like this should always strive to be better.

Singelli : I know that you didn't compete but you did post more words than you normally do on average , 

Also i know this is a competition and all but sometimes there isn't enough people that can continuously post high amounts for 30 days, and actively want to as well. I know i couldn't that is for sure. 

Also if you want a bit of a fun fact i think i am still the only elite to actively score a point, so yeah.. 

legacyme3 : I guess I was just misinterpreting your point, sorry about that. It is true that the amount of daily posts that this site receives isn't what it use to be and I'm not sure what the reason is behind that (last year at this time it was almost doubled what it is now) but hopefully that changes in the future. Actually it could have something to do with the amount of daily new users on the site which has dropped by a lot over the past 1-2 years but that has probably dropped because of the site's several traffic drops over the past 1-2 years. I just need to find ways to drive in more traffic again.

The reason the tdv is doing so bad is because of the staff thing people keep complaining about.

I mean really, that's why I stopped.

Davideo7 : If you weren't competing, this would almost definitely be another blowout and win for zanderlex. You're 40 points ahead of Kramer, who's one spot below you. But this time, you're putting up a good fight, making this competition more interesting, and making it challenging for Zander to win. The April TdV must've been easy as pie for Zander to win though.

What a twist.

I was starting to doubt the chances of anyone else winning this TdV besides Zander.
