I'm always looking for something new to play or try out, So I thought it could be fun to see what people would rate as their top three games of all time. It can be any game at all, any system, a board game, cards, whatever you think deserves to be in there.
I'm Hoping this will help expose me to new games I might not have tried before or given a fair chance.
Personally my top three are
3 - Silent Hill (PS1): I was 9 years old when this came out and my older brother brought it home. We sat down to play that night and I safely say that it scared the life out of me. Running through creepy fog trying to avoid demon birds and zombie dogs, trying to figure out what was going on, and feeling my heart speed up every time the radio made that screechy noise to let you know there were enemies nearby. I don't think that I would like horror half as much as I do now without this games influence.
2 - Worm: Armageddon (PS1 again): Worms: Armageddon was my go to for multiplayer for many, many years. Throughout secondary school and college whenever friends would call around to play games, this was almost guaranteed to be played. An excellent combination of cartoonish humour, explosions and strategy kept us coming back. To this day I still end up playing it every few months to keep my ninja rope skills sharp.
1 - Phantasy Star IV: End of the Millennium (Sega Megadrive/Genesis): This was the first game I ever bought. I'd saved some money and taken the bus with my brother to go to the game shop. I ended up choosing this (I suspect mostly from the cover art to be honest). We took it home and booted it up and my young mind was exposed for the first time to RPG games. I really enjoyed the story and the personality the characters showed, and it drew me in quickly. It's stuck with me for many years (I still catch myself humming the town theme without realising) and I break it out once a year or so for a play through. *spoilers* it was also the first game I had ever played where a main character died for good.
Looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with, and feel free to throw in any honourable mentions
