I am wondering, is the Game Half-Life 2 worth it? I see it on sale for a good price, but is the game good? Is it more than just a game with Physics engines etc? So, what I want you guys to do, is convince me to buy it, or just leave it. You have till the 30th of this month. (September) Until then, I will read all comments below! (Just in case I don't reply.)

The game is only fun to a certain group. That is, those who can look past the paper-thin plot, characters, and shooting mechanics. I am one of those people, but i completely understand the criticisms of those who dislike the game. If you're more about story and development, the game is NOT for you. If you're into game play, however, you may just enjoy it.

What "good" price is that?
Im looking at steamprices (the comparison website), and it says half life 2 is $2.49
For that, you really cant go wrong. Bargain.
It also says the orange box is $4.99
That has half life 2, hl2 ep1, hl2 ep2, portal 1, and team fortress 2 (which is free anyway).
If you decided to buy you'd b saving money on halflife alone by getting the orange box, the core game plus ep1 covers the cost of the orangebox.

It really depends.
I got the orange box for ps3 cheap, purely for team fortress 2.
I discovered I didn't like tf2, payed half life 2, and loved it.

I bought the orange box on pc too, so I could play halflife with my friend. The price difference between the orange box and halflife 2 was miniscule, so it made sense just to buy it as a pack.

As for the game itself, its one of those brutally simplistic titles which is inexplicably fun. Especially with a friend, that is good for a chuckle.

Theres also a tonne of mods for the base game which makes it a pretty immortal title (like skyrim).
Then theres the fact that without that title, steam probably wouldnt even exist, so it did something right.

I like it, everyone I know likes it. Some people think its meh, but thats true for any game.
I give it the thumbs up anyway.

The bundle adds all the titles at once I believe.
You dont get gift keys of games you already own EXCEPT for a few selected titles:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4502-TPJL-2656

You would get the half life games as gifts, as for portal im not sure. It does say that you can get portal gift keys if you buy the portal pack.

However, having looked online, I'm led to believe that for whatever reason, you dont get portal as a gift with the orange box if you already own it.

If you enjoyed halflife 2 then it would still be like getting episode 2 for free, if you didn't enjoy it, then its a bit of a waste.

Looking at steam, it appears there is a demo. I recommend you try it before you buy.

thenumberone : I did try it out, but they didn't give you an explanation at how to do stuff. I have played both Portal games, which should have similar controls, but I couldn't figure it out very well, which is why the full game would help. I have heard it's a great game, but couldn't make up my mind.

I wouldn't know much about the game itself since I never actually played the game, just watched videos, bit from the looks of it, the price seems decent enough for the price. If you are thinking about it, but are a bit skeptical about the price and quality, you might as well look for a sale, when I bought the game for my brother, I was able to get it for just under 8 dollars, which is really worth it. All you need to do is look around.

Well sheesh, I have no idea how much that is in USD, but I assume that's really cheap. You really should get it regardless before it goes back on sale which should be at least twice as much or maybe even more. That should be a really good value, sl go ahead and go for it.

wow, 3.16 for a game that would normally cost 15 to 20. Get it, even if you dont wan the game, get it just so you can sell it to somebody when its back to regular price. you cant argue with roughly 80 percnt off.
