I tried playing Pokemon Red and when I went to change the controls to w,s,a,d (like WoW) and the A and B buttons they wouldnt change when I try to type in the letter it just goes blank again and then the game wont work because now I cant select anything or move. I played this on another computer before and I had no problems changing the controls on the games so why is it not working now.

There a few things you can try. 
#1: When you attempt to remap a key,  press it twice and see if that works and make sure you press ok when you are done mapping all the keys. 

#2: Try to hold down the key you want to map before clicking remap then ok when all keys are mapped. 

#3: Try the mednafen emulator by clicking the link at the top left of the game screen and after it loads, then double click the screen and map the keys as they show on the bottom of the game screen.
