In the video games section of the forums I see the "Reviews" portion of that section. I see written reviews there and I was wondering if we can post video reviews? Do they have to be games from this site? I was just wondering.

Anyone can write a review, as long as it is long enough, try to shoot for 500 words, which can be hard sometimes. Also it doesn't need to be a game that is on the vizzed retro game room, it just needs to be a game, and have enough detail. Also there are some guidelines that are recommended for a review, if you look most every review has a few details that are the same.

HeavyMetalGamer : No you cannot post video reviews. If you could than we would have newbs coming in and cursing the whole community out.

Hold on, are you asking if you can post reviews of video games in a form of video, or are you asking if you can post reviews about videos?

If you're asking about the former, then you definitely can. Take a look at this post and the response from David below it. He says you can make reviews about video games in a video format.

Now if it's the latter, then I guess it would entirely depend on what the video is about.

Oh, but the most important thing is to keep your reviews family-friendly. So like, try to refrain from using curse words in your reviews or showing inappropriate stuff in it.

I do game reviews on Youtube, and let's just say, I want to post my newest review of WCW Nitro on the PC. In the reviews section of the forum am I allowed to post it, or does it have to be just written? Hope that gets rid of any confusion, and I totally understand about not wanting video reviews....it would turn into a spam fest.

I am somewhat family friendly, I do say a few words here and there, but not like AVGN or anything like that. I do make the occasional dirty joke here and there, but I am pretty straight forward with my reviews.

and the other mods don't have an issue with it, is record the video, follow the general guidelines of written reviews on here, and then type out the transcript, or at least the relevant parts. 

Then that should be fine. Heck, I just posted proof that it was okay, didn't I? If you want more clarification for it, then you can ask the local moderators for the Video Games forum about it. In fact, I'll summon them.

Oh, HeavyMetalGamer, the formatting tag rule says you need to be a normal member in order to embed Youtube videos on posts. So in about 4 more days, you should be able to do that.

I am not in a big hurry or anything to start posting them, so waiting 4 days is fine, and I might even wait a long while before I start posting them, I was just wondering for future posts.

Mistress : I wouldn't suggest it, no. It would be the same as copying written ones down from another site, which is permitted if they're the original author ( But you know that), but not really encouraged. If it were to be done, they would need to let us know that they'd done it to prevent confusion if someone saw the video elsewhere and didn't know it was them and thought it'd been plagiarized. Also the words would need to be ignored and all that fun stuff. lol


HeavyMetalGamer - Yes, as far as I'm concerned posting a video review in Video Games "review" Sub-forum would be just fine. But please do try to be sure and omit any foul language and non family friendly content in it, as it'll have to be treated as any written post would be, and since it can't be edited by the Mods I imagine we'd have to remove it entirely if it were in violation of the rules, which would be a bummer for you and us.

Ok cool, I guess I will have to pick and choose what type of review I post, because like I mentioned earlier, some of my reviews could come off as offensive, but I also have some that are not.
