Well, I’ve returned from my trip to Iceland, and it was something! I don't think I’ve had quite as much fun in my whole life as in these last nine days. Here's what i did for each of those days.
WARNING: Intricate, possibly boring detail ahead. Be very afraid.
Day one: An uneventful flight to Reykjavik. There was AVOD so i watched some episodes of Friends, but also listened to some music. We left at night, and jet lag didn't take long to kick in. After we got to our apartment, we picked up some food. I wound up sleeping for a very long time that night.
Day two: Trekked to the outskirts of the city, home to a vast lava field. Here, i ran around, lifted rocks, and hiked up mountains. After that, i went to the Icelandic Settlement Museum and the Hallgrímskirkja, a large church overlooking the city.
Day three: Busiest day of the trip. I went to geothermal power plants, churches, geysers, and mountains, all in eight hours. Only problem: sitting in front of me in the bus were two 20-something rich girls who did nothing but talk about past trips and sing "ice ice baby". I'm surprised i didn't off myself. Walking back to the apartment, some guy heckled me, so i beat him up.
Day four: Went to Gullfoss, a waterfall inland. Also visited a glacier. Slidy slidy fun! Also completed EMs' challenge of speaking only Icelandic to someone. I spoke it pretty decently, too. The topic was the waterfall. Yup.
Day five: Went to the Reykjavik flea market. Got some cool t-shirts. Also ate out and visited the main street for some of that famous rotten shark meat. Hey, it was for my dad!
Day six: Went to the Blue Lagoon. The water was completely relaxing and it got rid of all tension in my body. Then i went to an area full of geysers. I hiked up a steep mountain to see one of them. Only i had the stamina between me, my sister, and my mom. On the way back, the bus got stuck in an off-road ditch. Once we got out of that, we drove into a sandbank. Only with the help of an old man and his pickup, as well as some planks, did we get out of that bank. Sound brief? Guess what, that ordeal lasted an hour.
Day Seven: Nothing happened today. My mom and sister went to the market, but i stayed behind and exercised. I also wrote up a review, 'cause why not?
Day eight: Went to the northern lights museum and maritime museum. At the latter, we toured a retired Icelandic coast guard boat. A lot of stuff in there was strait from the 80s (Walkman w/ Madonna cassette). We then went whale-watching, but we found more puffins than whales. Not that i mind, because puffins are AWESOME.
Day nine: Left the apartment and ate at a nearby cafe. Flew back home, finishing off the season of Friends that i had started to watch on the last flight.
Don't know what else to say except i'm back in black! I'll insert pics in my album later. Well, I’ve returned from my trip to Iceland, and it was something! I don't think I’ve had quite as much fun in my whole life as in these last nine days. Here's what i did for each of those days.
