So, the story goes like this. Earlier this month (August, for those reading this in the future), there was a "leak" that was released.
"But "leaks" are released all the time!" you might say. Yes, that IS true, but this has more significance. This leak had:


This leak was later proved fake, like most leaks are.

Now it gets interesting. Earlier today (August 25th, again, for those reading this in the future), Someone on Youtube released a few 40-50 second clips of gameplay, which in them . The videos are from ESRB footage given to them, as they don't actually play the game. There was a few assist trophies along with it. Now, I would link you to the videos of this, but, that's where stuff gets intense.?

There are a lot of fake leaks for Smash 4, but none of them got taken down by Nintendo themselves... So what does this prove about the videos?

I guess leave your opinions below. Honestly, I hope Sakurai completely demolishes this leak somehow, like with the Lucina, Robin, and Captain Falcon Trailer that dechromfirmed (get the hint?) the Gematsu leak... yet I do hope the Tharja assist trophy is still in...

UPDATE: Nintendo has identified the leaker, and he has been fired (and is being sued). He was a Nintendo of America Employee, and was sending materials to the ESRB.

Fake leaks? I'll take 'em, as it causes lots of speculation and helps build anticipation (If I find someone who is working on a known project and purposely makes a fake account and uploads fake leaks of his/her own work, props to them). It makes the experience of waiting in line for hours, buying, and not being able to take it and wanting to play it already on the ride home much more satisfying when you finally quench your thirst at home and play the game. And with some games, like SSB, it can be half of the awesomeness of it (which is why I would give props to the person I described in the previous parenthesis), just as rumors and speculation can be half the fun of a game (like "L is real" for SM64 and Ratman's Rant from Portal 2, for two well known examples).

Now legit leaks? Now this all depends on the whats being leaked. In this case, were it is info about the game like the fighters in the upcoming SSB, its a complete killjoy, because that is the fun of playing the game, to see who is in it (other than Mario, but if there was a SSB with no Mario, you know that would spread like wildfire) and who are the unlockables. But, just for wholeness of this statement, if its something like, I don't know, a complete beta (yes not very likely, but it has happened before, for example, the beta to Sonic 2 was leaked because it was stolen when being showcased at some public event, and not only 1 beta of Sonic 2 was leaked, 4 were!), this could do a lot of things, like give a potential buyer a taste of the game, helps preservation of that game's history (because the internet is the god of information preservation), to show the stages of the games development for anyone interested (and back to the Sonic 2 example, more graphics sounds and engine for game hacking/modding), but on the flip side of the coin can spoil a game.

Now for the legit response, I'm glad some of those were fake, but it is quite maddening that some were legit, since it was leaks were just killjoys.
