VA is taking forever... I need help

Alright, so is more geared towards the veterans on this site, but, if you have any knowledge on the subject, all advice will be accepted. 

So, right now, I am looking at my eBenefits claim page, and it is still in the "Gathering Evidence" phase. I have been waiting months for my appointment, and I still have not gotten anything. My question is this: Who the heck to do I contact to try to get an appointment faster? My debt is racking up, and I really need the money before my Credit is shot, or my bank just does not want to have anything to do with me anymore, seeing as how I can't pay my Credit Card, and I am way over my limit right now. Just a lot of things are not going my way, but if I could get my appointment, or find some way to get this process speeded up, it would help me so much. 

So yeah... any advice for people that actually have some knowledge on the subject? 

Summoning the only guy that I can think of that should have some idea of what I might need to do.

Have you tried calling your local Vet Center?  I'm also a Veteran (I joined the Guard a few years after my ETS,) but I haven't really used the VA.  I just returned from a deployment a few weeks ago, and was given a book with the numbers for all the VA clinics & Vet Centers in the country.  I hope it can help you out a bit.
