That game actually looks pretty cool! I always wanted to make a game with an RPG engine stylized like that!

Hey, that's a pretty impressive bit of work you've made there. Are you making all of the sprites, sound effects, scripts, story, etc. yourself? And I'm assuming this is written in Java. Is that correct?

I'm breaking into game development myself (starting an Indie development team with some friends), so that should explain why I'm so intrigued by your work on this game.

EDIT: I saw the Visual Basic part after posting. lol I know nothing about it, so my first questions (not programming language) still stand.

@SuperMariofan908: No, that is not an RPG engine, it's a programming language. Believe me, it isn't suited for an RPG game as it is NOT user-friendly, and it will twist your mind AND consume your time if you don't know how to use the visual basic language. If you still want to....you can go to this site:
http://vbprogramming.8k.com/tutorials/main.htm
And good luck! You'll need it.

@Eirinn: No, I only made the script and the story by myself, the rest are taken from Wizardry in SNES, and google image search.

Thanks to both of you for your compliments guys.

Erinn: I'm pretty sure it's visual basic.

That's quite nice actually. I've never really used VB for games. I mainly use it for making programs and such. I never really found it to be very efficient for making games.

Hello there, just a heads up that this belongs in the game design forum and not in the computer/ Programming / Technology forum, while yes game design is usually a form of programming and coding it still has it's own forum where it belongs, that being said it's not too big of a deal and don't fret it too much, just try to find out if there is a more specific forum next time, alright?

It seems like the early enemies are really too weak, maybe you're father in the game but you've been over powering them the entire video with no real challenge at all. And out of curiosity where is the music from?

Thread moved.

@Blubcreator: Well in my opinion, games are a bunch of scripts and texts they are mixed up together to form a beautiful experience to the user (or the player in this case), so it's not even surprising for me if I saw someone make an RPG in a programming language even older than Visual Basic (which actually happened!). But you're right, VB is NOT for making games, I had almost lost my sanity in making this game but thankfully I managed to pass that....somehow.

@Frodlex: They look too weak because I've invested in STR til 15 (that's actually a good amount to start with, considering that the maximum STR is 18 for human) and a few for DEX, both of which helped me defeat them easily.

But believe me, in earlier versions of this game, there are enemies with HP higher than the player, not to mention they hit multiple times which kills the player almost instantly (happened a lot to me), so I had to move them to another place.

Also, I've been playing as a fighter, he was MEANT to dominate them because combat is his best field (try playing as a thief), but once he get to a situation which he isn't good at (like disarming traps, spell-casting), he'll kinda suffer more than the other classes do.

Sorry for writing all this paragraph, but this game was meant to play by the old RPG rules, not the modern ones...and these two play WAY differently than you'd expect.

Oh and, the music is from wizardry in SNES, and thanks for moving the thread.
