So, I just got home from dropping off my 2 cats at a Meow Foundation volunteer's house. Meow Foundation is an organization that finds adoptive homes for cats.

Long story short (since I don't want to tell the entire story) is that our male cat has been getting more and more aggresive towards Gabby (my daughter). We've tried to do our best to try and train him to give her space and pick his sleeping spots more carefully etc etc.... but we discovered just the other day that he had peed in her carseat. That was pretty much the last straw (wasn't the first time he had peed somewhere but it was the first time it was targeted towards Gabby). We decided that we needed to choose between our child or our cats and the choice was simple when it came down to it. We can't deal with raising a child when the cats seem to be working against us. They were great cats and I hate to see them go but it's only gotten worse with the male cat and we tried our hardest to figure something out.

So, we are now petless... which really sucks because I've always had a pet. Since I can remember my family has always had a cat... but I guess it's time for a break. Maybe we'll get more when our kids get older... we'll see.

So yeah, I haven't had the best evening .

Wow that is an interesting story. You need to find a better cat next time you get one Get one that is quiet and you shouldn't have much problems, they mind their own business. I got 2 cats now one is really nuts I can't even get to the kitchen without getting mauled by it lol. And the quiet one is awesome no problems whatsoever.

Might as well get a female cat cause the male ones are pretty nuts from my experience.

Did it actually physically attack your daughter though? I think it might have been mad cause of attention, maybe the cat wasn't getting treated like gabby so it got mad? That is just my guess anyway or maybe the cat just doesn't like her? Or maybe the cat is try to mark territory an say "Hey I'm the boss here" cause I have seen that a bit with cats especially male ones.

It's probably better to wait till Gabby is older or maybe just get a kitten and they can grow together

that sucks i have had pet cat's ever since i could remember if i ever had to get rid of my pet i would feel bad for the pet.

Jigsaw: I wasn't really asking for advice... but we are going to wait til any future kids are born before we start getting pets again. We'd rather they all grow up together like you said... I think it's too stressful for some pets to have a baby introduced into the mix.

rbaranishyn: I do feel bad. The cats howled and cried all the way to this person's house... although I did get an e-mail from her later that said that the male cat was already starting to become quite social again so hopefully they're doing okay already.
