I have never actually nicknamed a pokemon. my only problem with it is that it confuses me a lot. what would happen is I would assume that if I had named a pokemon then I would not play for 3 weeks and forget what pokemon had what nivkname and lose some sort of really important battle because I sent out the wrong pokemon thinking it was the right pokemon. Did that make sense to anyone?

I would always nickname my pokemon with a word starting with the first letter of the original name.I named my Giratina "Giggy" and named my female Lucario "Lucca".I also named my pokemon Noctowl "Nina".I think nicknaming your pokemon with the first letter of it's original name helps prevent confusion.

I've played Pokemon a very long time ago, one for the original GameBoy, but I only named one or two Pokemon I captured. I can't remember who they were or what they were renamed to. But I am big when it comes to customizing things. Coming up with names is a strong point of mine. An idea I have for a water-type is "Maestrom", which is a powerful water vortex/huge whirlpool. So if you have a really strong water-type, there you go.
