First, this question was asked.
"Which came first, the Cubone or the Marowak?"

Then came the theories.
The theory I will tell you is that the dead mother is actually Kangaskhan. First thing that might come to mind is, "How are they alike?" but if you look closely, you actually see a close relationship. First, the Cubone and the baby Kangaskhan. First you say meh, then you say wow. Let me explain.
Just look at them in the same pose for a while. Look at their bellies, first. They aren't very different. In fact identical. Their color scheme isn't very different either. Don't they look similar? Well, let's look at the Marowak and Kangaskhan together now, shall we?
They both have a spiked tail, crossed eyes, same belly texture, and similar toes. They aren't very different either. In fact identical if it weren't for all those small differences. Next that comes to mind is how it could have been born in Pokemon Yellow, when there was no breeding? Well man, are you in for a surprise! Oh boy. Think about it. The Kangaskhan was the only Pokemon to hold a baby in it's pouch., the only Pokemon to ever be set as only a mother. Think about that again. That's right. That's how it could've happened.
So maybe the Kangaskhan is the culprit. Well, actually, the mother that died. After all, what else could've happened? That's my conclusion.
