Hello everyone, I am quite sick of playing games with a keyboard, and I need a pc controller so my gaming experience here on vizzed is much much better, but unfortunately I am not that smart when it comes to these things, knowing me I would probably order a controller and then it would end up not working because I did something wrong or didn't order one compatible with my computer, so which should I get, or does it even matter?  Please not that my computer is NOT a laptop, it is I guess you could call it a home computer, and it is a windows 7, like I said I am not smart when it comes to this stuff and have no idea what I mentioned above even matters, any advice and help is EXTREMELY appreciated.

thenumberone : Yes of course thats what I would like, no offense but I think you missed the point of my question   What I am worried about about is compatibility issues, I do not want to order one and then have it not work, or does that even matter? also do you know if vizzed does not support certain controllers?

The main factor in hardware working is whats called the driver. A piece of software that allows the hardware to talk to your pc.
So long as you use a reasonably new controller, the driver will be designed for windows 7.
And for your question about my ps3 controller, its a normal run of the mill ps3 controller.
I just connect the charger cable and installed the custom driver for it:
http://www.gamefront.com/how-to-use-a-ps3-controller-on-a-pc/
It can then be used perfectly on pc, allowing you to use it for gaming.
It can also pretend to be an xbox360 controller. A lot of pc games are designed to use xbox controllers so thats very usefull.
I only used the conntroller until I was going to get a new one but im happy with it so why bother.

And iv never tried using a controller for vizzed. It might or might not work.
If it doesent work you can use a tool called xpadder:
http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5869-xpadder.html

Once you have whatever controller you choose working, you open xpadder and press all the buttons/add the analogue sticks, and they appear on the image. Then you can make each btton pretend to be a keyboard button.
Example: A game has
w: forward
s: Backward
a: jump
On my controller id make the button x pretend to be key a and the analogue stick w ,a,s,d for all the directions.
When you press the buttons on your controller its the same as using the keyboard, which is good if a game wont let you change the controlls.

solidx123456 : Like thenumberone said, you can use a driver. I usually use Motioninjoy for PS3 Controllers. Alternatively, you can download the Xbox 360 controller driver and get a 360 controller, which Steam is most compatible with and doesn't require you to switch controls to be comfortable with.

Thank you all so much for your help, I found a youtube video that showed me how to pretend my ps3 controller is an xbox 360 controller, and it is awesome, and yes it does work for vizzed so that is exiting Glad I didn't have to go through frustration with moitionjoy and the ds3 tool, cause I could not get it to work to save my life, if this thread could be closed that would great
