Strategies as in for the actual games, or stuff like Pokemon competitive?
For the games I usually just go with the Pokemon I like the, and make my team out of that.
For competitive play, I usually go with a team with little weakness's. It depends more on if it's a normal battle, double, triple or rotate battles.

I'm a non-competitive player, guys. Let's get that thing outta the way first. xD

Some of the strategies I use, is Meganium's Sunny Day+Solarbeam, and Sunny Day+Synthesis. One that I'm really fond of is Magneton/Magnezone's Lock On+Zap Cannon. I also like to use Machoke's Focus Energy+Karate Chop, and Blaziken's Focus Energy+Double Kick.

Super Mega Man 568 : Well, for Gen. 1 I always take Pikachu because he's way better than the Magnemites and Voltorbs you can get later. For Gen. 2 I always take Hoppip since he's my favourite and at level 10 he's very strong with Synthesis and Tackle and he also has great speed. For gen 3 I like to have Slakoth because of Yawn and Slack Off. And for Gen. 4 I just like to have my Snorlax at my side. Those are some of my Pokémon that I use because of great moves, I don't have much of a strategy, my strategy is just healing and attacking.

In the "normal" game, I just pick some of my favorite pokemons and go around defeating everyone that I find in my way, not minding type matchups or whatever. I use what I like.

As for competitive play, I use Stall teams 99% of the time (a.k.a super defensive teams). It annoys people to no end most of the time. Gen 6 kinda ruined Stall teams, but it still works ^^
