I've completed Pokémon Red, and I'm working on Pokémon Emerald. I have a feeling that the games will get very repetitive if I keep going like this, and I want my third Pokémon play through to be some form of challenge.  I've heard of the Nuzlocke Challenge, but I've seen different sets of rules for it. I was also wondering if there are other types of challenges out there for Pokémon.

So here's my question for you: what type of Pokémon challenge do you like to play? What combination of rules do you think sets up an interesting game play? Is there anything you think I should try? Tell me about all of your favorite game play variations!

Only challenge I have done it's in the Emerald 386 hack, where you can catch all the  386 Pokémon's, I made a promise that I will only use Poison-type Pokémon's.. It did not matter if let's say I caught Bellsprout which is grass and poison-type. As long as he had the strengths and weaknesses of the poison-type. So I got rid of my stater as soon as I could caught the first poison-type I found.

So the challenge is that you choose one type of Pokémon and use only those to beat the game. Don't know if anyone plays it like it, but I found it to be quite challenging.

Maybe one challenge would be that your not allowed to use any items and TM's. Only those items that you MUST use like if your in the bicycle in the bicycle road and so on. I found that being very challenging if you want to beat the Elite Four with that rule.

Then one challenge would be that your not allowed to evolve your Pokémon's maybe? Or when your Pokémon learns a new ability you must teach it to him even if you don't like that move and think it will be only a waste of space.

I think that's about all I can think of, hope this will help you a little to decide or give some points. But you can also makeup your own challenge and rules how you want to play it. I found the original Pokémon's being so boring nowadays so I like to think new rules to the game to make it more interesting so the game wont repeat it self so much.
