A cold day it was indeed. The windows were shut and the curtains were drawn, the lights were on and the computer was whirring.
'Come on, nearly on the last level...' Maya said to nobody in particular as she played a video game on her favourite website, Vizzed.
"Noooo!" She yelled suddenly. "Game over again... ugh, one more try. I mean, it's only 3 in the mornin'..."
Maya struggled to keep herself awake as she tried to beat Mr Dream on Punch-Out just once. However, no matter how much she practised, she could not even get him down for one second. Maya muttered acoupleahundrud curse words as she got KOd for the 23rd time and fell asleep, face down on the keyboard.

'Huh? I'mawake mah...' Maya muttered, lifting her head off the keyboard. To her surprise it was still dark outside.
The computer made a weird farting noise and rattled as if it were about to blow up.
Maya giggled immaturely and stared into the computer screen, moving the mouse around and waiting for something to happen.
And something did. A purple, giant hand made out of dusty-looking smoke emerged from the screen and popped out as if the screen was an open box. It offered a finger (not the one in the middle) and waited patiently.
'You want me to come with you?' Maya said to the hand. Another hand came out of the screen and gave a thumbs up. It sunk back into the screen and Maya laughed. The selfish side in her came forward. 'And what do I get for it?'
The other purple hand came back out of the screen, but this time holding a plate of chocolate chip cookies with the chocolate chips hot and melting, with the cookie absorbing the melting chocolate.
'Ok, I'm sold.' Maya said. She grabbed the purple hand's finger and the hand sunk back inside the computer, taking Maya with it.
Maya smashed through the screen, not realising what she'd just agreed she'd take part in...
