When I first saw the trailer for Non-Stop back in December, I knew that I
wanted to see it. Most of the movies that I see are either last second
decisions or because my friends want me to see it with them. Non-Stop was just
one of two movies that I actually want to see in 2014, the other one being Edge
of Tomorrow. In fact, every single one of the 18 different movies that I have
seen 22 times in 2013 fell under one of those two categories. But Non-Stop was
unique, every time I saw the trailer, I cried. This was a movie that I was
really eager to see and I knew, months in advance, that I was going to love it.
I was expecting the movie to be one of the best movies I have ever seen, but
it turned out to be way more than that. It just so happens that pretty much all
of the scenes that were in the trailer were either just random, unimportant
scenes, or had very little to do with the story. You can watch the movie
without seeing any trailer clip, except for the texts, and not miss a thing.
The acting of the film had been amazing. In addition to the star, Liam
Neeson, the film was stocked with talent. The actress of the film was Julianne
Moore who is very well known in the movie and T.V universe, as she had been
nominated for a Golden Globe 6 times, as well as the Academy Awards twice.
After Neeson, she probably had the best performance of all the stars and had
been able to put on a great show. The two “Evil Men” of the movie, played by
Nate Parker and Scoot McNairy had done a great job with their role and had
everybody deceived. Their characters were so good at deceiving, that for the
most part of the movie, one had been helping to find the criminal, while the
other had been cleared of suspicion.
Personally, I find this very funny. The character played by Scoot, was the
first, and really only passenger that Neesons character was suspicious of to
that extent. The Air Marshall believed that he was the criminal to the point
where he tied the man down to his seat, even after air control told him that he
was innocent. They were both able to fool us, so regardless of what has been
done, they played their roles perfectly. Every actor in this movie had done a
great role, even Lupita Nyong'o, who won an Academy Award for her work with 12
Years A Slave, played a huge part.
Next, we get to the star of the film, Liam Neeson, who played a United
States Air Marshal. Not only did he have the best performance of the movie,
this was easily one of the best performances in any action film that I have
ever seen. Just the fact that his character was so calm and collected during
the mess makes you respect him. He was not afraid of consequences, and he had
shown that he would do whatever it took save the people on that plane. For the
acting overall, I am going to give a 9 out of 10, but for Neeson, in my
opinion, only The first Taken movie could have garnered a better performance
from Neeson.
Graphics were rarely used, but that's okay in such a movie because pretty
much every scene took place inside of a set stage and there was no real need
for graphics. The only time graphics were used were for aerial shots of the
plane, and the occasional gunshot may have been made using some amount of
special effects. Personally, I do not care for graphics at all if there is a
good story, I didn’t like Thor, Catching Fire, Man of Steel, but I liked Non
Stop. So, true, to some, not having a lot of graphics might make the movie
boring to some users, but to me, the amount of effects was just fine.
As for the music, it’s pretty much like all of the recent movies that I have
seen. Aside from a few notes when there is a dramatic or suspenseful scene,
there is barely any music aside for background music when somebody is talking
or running. There are a few songs that I like, but again, it’s my own opinion.
Most of the music is classical in a way, and a lot of people I know cannot
stand that.
The movie was spectacular overall. There were many dramtic scenes, there
were a ton of action scenes, and there were scenes that could possibly make a
grown man cry. It is so far the best movie I have seen this year and I know
that I will eventually argue with myself that I should put this movie on the
list of 5 best movies I have ever seen. My overall grade for this movie is 9.5
out of 10.
