In hacking Pokémon Fire Red, I've been using the program Advance Text Editor. Upon making my own text, I accidentally deleted the part where you name your character. Now, when I test the game, I can get to the screen right before you name your character. After that, I get Oak standing where he normally stands, and the text box is almost completely blank. No amount of button pressing advances the game. It's just stuck in this state. Not sure if I legitimately deleted the file, or it's temporarily relocated, or what. I can't see anything to help recover the action on A-Text, so I was hoping I could get help from here. Any suggestions or solutions would be helpful. Thanks.

The only thing I could think what to do is either reput in all the text for it or delete the rom you are using and get a fresh one and start again from there.

jjv373 : there are no "files" to relocate... all text are hex values, if you overworte it, its gone... your best bet is to NOT USE A-Text... learn to edit text in a hex editor, you will never make mistakes that way.

it may be possible to use A-Text to replace the missing text as it was before...  but more than likely you will have to start over... OR use a hex editor to copy and paste the old text in from a clean copy of fire red...

now, if you deleted it and inserted blank space with A-Text, you likely put the "end text" byte right after the beginning of the text, so its more than likely mostly there, just has an FE instead of the first character... it might be easy to fix in a hex editor...
but without the yes/no textbox, you cannot progress the intro
