This is a weird thread. I made it for people to tell others what in video games they may be afraid of. Examples may be the redeads, in Ocarina of Time, darkened rooms where anything can jump out at you, or more of that sort. They dont even have to be anything truly scare enducing, something that just you dont like to the point of cringing.

This thread came about due to something I found myself doing during video games. I would get tense and stiff.

Why?

 *cringe*

*shudder*

*runs away screaming*

Because I am oh my god deathly afraid of getting insta-killed in video games. This is a problem, especially in games like Mega Man, where instant death spikes (figure 1), bottomless pits (figure 2), and crushers (figure 3) are common.

What are you afraid of in video games?

My fellow Metroid fans should agree with me when I say this: Metroid Fusion is the scariest game I have ever played, and it's not even supposed to be a horror game. I had multiple nightmares from playing that. The SA-X is scary as heck, but there's one boss that goes beyond fear... Nightmare, the scariest flippin' boss in the history of EVERYTHING.

The SA-X:

First, Nightmare's creepy as hell mask:

And one of Nightmare's unmasked faces:

I concur.
I remember playing Metroid Fusion as a kid (or, younger than I am now, anyways)

The minute the SA-X blasted through the wall was confusing enough, since it didn't give nearly any info on it before that moment, but  when that zoomed in picture came up, I was like:

Not so much scared when I fought Nightmare, mainly because gross stuff didn't creep me out as much as scary stuff, but also because it wasn't really a jumpscare, as he just slowly floated into the room.

The only thing that comes to mind are the Banshee's in Mass Effect 3 when you first encounter them in the monastery on Lesuss...and really any time in the game. It's dark and you can hear them shrieking eerily in the distance. Then when you finally see them, they are so grotesque and creepy looking. Their skin is pulled back from their mouths in a menacing grimace, the way the charge at you...freaks me out every time.

Well dark, silent, and decrepit rooms generally put me on edge when a video game. And when an enemy finally does appear around the corner or out of the ceiling my usual reaction is: Phsicaly tense, attempt to aim my weapon at it with slightly shaking hands (if its a handheld than its a bit trickier), and blast it into oblivion. Gory enemies don't bother me so much as the fast little ones that you cant get a shot at till they their to close.
