Whether it was at a zoo, in a rainforest, or even in your backyard, what is the most exotic animal you have ever seen?

The most exotic animal I have ever seen is a Puerto Rican parrot. It is not that exotic, but it is pretty cool.

Well it's not really one animal, but I went to Costa Rica once and saw a toooon of rare butterflies.

Almost any nature-filled place you go is a haven for those things. I think something crazy like 10% of all butterflies live there.

But if they don't count then probably a panda. That was a fun Zoo trip. Gotta love fluffy white balls of adorableness.

I lived in Hawaii for a few years and the north shore had sharks every so often.  You'd hear about them but no one ever saw one since the waves and the break made the water too foamy for much visibility.

Then I saw one.  I was on my board with two buddies and one saw the fin maybe fort feet away.  He rolled and looked under the water.

"Looks like a reef but i can't tell for sure."

Uh.....

"Naw, it's good.  He don't eat no man.  He cruising for little fishies."  The three of us still kinda hung out and waited for that fish to pass on.

I've seen my share of bears and goats in the wild but a shark in the real world with no shark tank?  That's as exotic as it gets for me.

Hmm...This is a tough one. Maybe a Tapir, or a Pygmy Marmoset. Those were at a zoo. But wild, probably a herd of Pronghorns. Sure they're native to North America, but seeing them running around in their environment as fast as the car is going, it's unforgettable.

An Ocelot. Yep. Some guy had it on a leash downtown. I'd attach a picture since my sister took a picture of it, but it's on her phone and I haven't put it on my computer yet.

I'm not exactly sure what it's called- East Coast Warbler or something- but I remember seeing it on a trip to Wildlife Safari. It didn't LOOK all that exotic, but when it opened its beak, it sounded like a million small children screaming. It nearly gave my mom a heart attack, because it sounded just like a little kid in intense pain. So everyone with us- even some random tourists nearby- were freaking out until we figured out it was this stupid bird.

A sea turtle at my local aquarium. I just think they are fascinating. But it made me sad how they are endangered. My Aquarium also had an alligator too which I enjoyed seeing.

One time I saw a zebra right here on Vizzed. They call him Leggy...

But one time I fed a giraffe.

tornadocam : Sea Turtles are endangered? I didn't know that... We must save the turtles!

Giraffes! What awesome creatures! In some zoo in Sweden where they had their heads up so high you could feed them.

But the weirdest. Axolotls. Turns out they were no further than my nearest aquarium. Say what?

These little guys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axolotl

Now almost extinct in the wild.

warmaker : That's pretty cool! Your story actually reminded me that I have seen Dolphins on multiple occasions in multiple locations. They are such amazing creatures.

TheFadedWarrior : You've heard of Leggy. And you have seen the words he writes. But have you ever seen him? I didn't think so.

tgags123: Like I said, I saw him on Vizzed. Not necessarily in real life... Though I have seen pictures of him and I have watched him eat three supreme hot dogs in a row before. Zebras truly have high metabolism.

Brigand : Axolotls are one of my favourite animals! I wish there were axolotls somewhere on display close to where I live. I'd just stand there for hours and hours and smile ridiculously at their awesomeness.

I'm a huge animal lover but unfortunately most of the animals I've seen we're on tv. The closest zoo we have here is only open during summers and most of the exotic animals I've seen were in there. When I was a kid they still had an elephant! It was one of the coolest moments in my life and I still remember how nervous I was while feeding her carrots. We know that elephants are large animals and it's pretty commonsense but when you're standing next to one its size feels unreal! And this was an old lady elephant. Unfortunately she died a couple of years ago so I can't see her ever again... I've also seen dolphins and that's pretty exotic to me.

To be honest, I haven't really seen any exotic animals but one animal that I once saw in a zoo that I found really amazing to check out was a parrot that actually repeats what you keep on saying, word for word, and perfectly. I don't know/remember if it had a specific name though.

The most exotic would be a colorful spotted frog I saw in a zoo. There were probably stranger animals but none others come to mind.

Besides on TV, I haven't seen many strange animals in real life, whether it's during my forest excursions or outside in the farm behind my house.

So zoos are about the only place I get to see 'exotic' animals =/
