Hello There,

So, I've seen quite a debate between Bronies and non- bronies.  I am neither a brony, or a non brony. I think MLP is an ok show, especially since FIM was created by Lauren Faust, one of my favorite story board artists from Power puff girls and Fosters home for imaginary friends.

But, anyways... I've seen people put down bronys, because it's meant for girls. Which, I don't get.  Girls can watch action movies. Guys think it's cool when they do!  Girls can play sports, and do "boy" things, but it's looked down upon for guys to like "girl" things.  Such as, people make fun of guys who watch chick flicks.  Or My Little Pony.  Now, it's agreed,  guys dressing like girls, and girls dressing like guys, isn't exactly ok...

So, really, it's fine for guys to be bronies.  We shouldn't make fun of them for it, or say they're "weird".  It's just an opinion. No one will have the exact same opinion you have, so don't complain when people disagree with you.

Thanks,

I am not a brony either, but I do have some friends that are. I do not judge them and I think it is a shame how often they are heckled. Some of my friends have been heckled due to watching MLP.  I'm like you I do not see nothing wrong with it.

Look, I've got no problem with people who watch MLP. If you want to watch then be my guest. Go for it. I'm not really one for judging anyway.

Where I DO have a problem is how brony culture has completely taken over the internet to the point where if a young girl who actually enjoys the show googles their favorite character, they find mountains upon mountains of explicit material.

Seriously bronies. C'mon. Just because you enjoy a show doesn't mean you have the right to destroy the intended audience's perception of a show just because you feel compelled to make cartoon characters bang.

If adult/teenage guys want to watch MLP then fine. Go for it. Yeah, it's a bit weird, but let's be real, we're ALL a little bit weird. But don't turn it into porn. Believe it or not there are little kids who watch MLP, not just you guys. And it's incredibly unfair and immature (as you are supposed to be older and more responsible) to corrupt the show in such a way.

NVTaks : I actually tried that, and I did not find any adult imagery, just some screenshots and fanart, and that was when safe search was off.

NVTaks : I completely agree with that.  I have the same problem with Adventure Time, Invader Zim, and any other fandom.  They RUIN it with this junk.

This isn't the site to lecture people about bronies, since half of the people on this site ARE bronies. Heck, there is even a forum for bronies. Personally, I hate My Little Pony, but if I had anything against bronies I would find a different website.

I am one of the least judgemental people on this website and I still am baffled by bronies  What I can't respect is the adoration for a program intended for little kids  If a sub-culture of grown or growing adults is excited by Tele-tubbies.... Well, how can you respect someone who watches that show with intent.

I see bronies as guys fighting off maturation and getting older and finding roles in society.  It's like they're afraid to take the title of "Man" and they want to be kids and play video games and fart around the house and avoid responsibility of the real world.  They're dodging something they should accept and enjoy and that's what gets me.

I like cartoons.  I think they're great.  I also, at 32, have a house, a wife, a kid, responsibility, and long range goals.  Bronies are avoiding all that and they're stopping the natural progression of their lives.

Unless they really enjoy My Little Pony and they hold down a regular job and they are out of their mom's basement.  Then that's great.

Local Mods : Can this please be moved to the debate and logic forum? I feel it would be a better spot for his thread.

Well, I watch the show simply because I enjoy watching it most of the time (This weeks episode was actually the only one I didn't really like that much this season, Doctor Who reference aside.) and nothing more. Part of what I've noticed from the brony community which I do and don't consider myself a part of is that the majority of us tend to have little use for stereotypes like "Chick flicks" or "Manly movies" or anything even remotely like that. I personally feel that those stereotypes have a negative effect on how people are raised in this community and how we even treat each other as human beings.

One quick thing I want to bring up before I get a little more specific with my text is the matter of porn. Let's take a quick look at Rule 34 (of the Internet.) which implies that whatever it is, porn of it exists. I myself have little use for this part of most fan bases but what else can you really expect from a fan base of this size? There will always be at least one guy who does something like that, it's just how it is.

farmboy8 : I've got to disagree when it comes to cross dressing, you might not deem it socially acceptable and maybe most everyone will support you there but I mean really now, I don't see how there is really anything all that wrong with it at all, sure a dude is dressing in what most people call "girl clothes". Why does that really matter? Clothes are clothes they are either used for cosmetic effect or for practical use, but I don't see why it's fair to deem something unfit for society based on a rather biased and close minded stereo type.

warmaker : First off, this is off topic but I wanted to apologize for Hunter closing and trashing your thread, if I had gotten to it first I would have gladly answered your question and still will through private chat if you are interested.

Anyway, I've got to disagree with this statement. "I see bronies as guys fighting off maturation and getting older and finding roles in society.  It's like they're afraid to take the title of "Man" and they want to be kids and play video games and fart around the house and avoid responsibility of the real world.  They're dodging something they should accept and enjoy-- ".

Sure, there are absolutely people like that, but that's not just bronies, and not all bronies are like that. I feel like you're letting one bad apple spoil the entire bunch if that makes any sense. Let me use myself as an example. I am a brony, I moderate Vizzed.com and own the private forum for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, I have in A+ average in each subject I take, I have a job (two if you count Vizzed and trust me, moderating is time consuming.) a healthy social life, a love for listening and creating music and I am aiming for a major in Psychology when I go to college. (Please, don't take this as me trying to make myself look perfect or anything completely stupid like that, I'm human, all human beings are flawed and I am absolutely no exception to that.)

I'm skeptical about your mind if you can place someone like that as shrugging their responsibilities and running from their problems as they grow up. Again, there are of course people who do this, plenty of bronies as well, but it's not just bronies who do this and it's not all bronies who do so. The same is true for pornography. There are plenty of people who watch it, some are anime fans, some are bronies, some are cross dressers, some are "normal" people. But are all of these stereotypes accurate just because some odd number of a huge group is a deviant of some sort?

There are all these stereotypes that cause so many biased and unhealthy opinions of people that have little to no fact behind it some of the time. Everyone has their own personal quirks that makes them "different" in some way or another, but what does being different really mean? Is it being different or being different from you? And if no one was different from you I would personally find this world to be quite boring, this isn't an attack on you or anyone, however it's what makes each person interesting and intriguing, the ability to be unique.

I agree that Bronies should be left alone. So they're watching a show about ponies. Big deal. I watch Disney fairy movies and love them. Does that make me weird?...Yes! And I'm proud of it! I have come to hate society's idea of what's "Normal" for anyone. I look at the "Normal" man, and I have no desire to be like that. Society says men are supposed to be sex crazed and play women, lying and cheating, and doing whatever we have to to get what we want. That is a big pile of garbage. I respect Bronies for breaking away from this stereotype, and embracing who they really are. We need more people like them, who are willing to stand up and openly reject the perception of who they're supposed to be. If society is right about what men are, then yeah, I want to be weird. I'm reminded of the song "Feed The Machine" by RED: they tell us who we are, and what we feel, what we think and how we act, but we don't have to do what they say. We can be who we are, because quite honestly, we are all different, most of us just try to hide it.

Brony = Brave? I say yes. Leave them alone, and quit being jealous just because they have more guts than many of us will ever have.

Frodlex : I may have not made a big enough to point to say I don't group all bronies into that sub-section of guys I talked about.  Obviously there are many guys who are active members in society and have healthy and satisfactory lives.  I don't group everyone into that group.

warmaker : Oh, well that changes a lot of this to something else now doesn't it? Might have done you some good to make sure that the point was clear in your original post, that being said I'm not personally worried even if I did disagree with the original post it's not like I'm personally upset or something. Tele-tubbies though? That's a bold comparison to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Maybe older My Little Pony series but I mean this one at least has a story line that can keep grown adults entertained, Tele-tubbies though? I mean not trying to hate on the series but it's kinda dreadful. Regardless of age intention, I have never been able to stand Tele-tubbies, even when I was two, I mean even now it makes me gag, that however may just be me.

I can understand not liking My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and all, and I can relate when it comes to not liking the older My Little Pony shows, but I mean there is obviously some good reason or another so many people like the show, otherwise they just wouldn't like it at all if you understand my meaning there. However I'll let you search for that answer on your own if you choose to look for it all. That being said I recommend treading carefully if you choose a close minded approach to this sort of conversation, however I'm sure you're willing to be open minded and I'm not even trying to say you're not or anything, just recommending the approach I would personally and do personally take.

tgags123 : That's the same way with me, I really don't like MLP as well, but hey, if I hated Bronies, I wouldn't been on Vizzed as well.

Look, even know I have joined as a Flock (Angry Birds fan) back in January 2013 and technically both Flocks and Bronies had issues with one another for online supremacy during that time, that was until the Flocks ended up turning against each other, it's a little confusing, but yeah. Also, even know I was a Flock, that didn't mean I had any disrespect to any Bronies even know I don't like MLP, it's just, I'm not interested in the show (It takes a whole lot more than just a video to get me interest into something and MLP isn't really my type).

The worst you see me saying to them (not just Bronies, but anyone) to at least calm down about it, but other than that, I really mean no harm with anyone, I really don't like any sort of discrimination against any fanbase, either if it's a My Little Pony fanbase, an Angry Bird fanbase, a Minecraft fanbase, or any other fanbases out there.

As the person responsible for the My Little Pony forum actually existing in the first place. I'd like to point out that a lot of the users of Vizzed are not Bronies. I just think the fact that the few that are bronies actively post on the forums. That is all.?

Also no offence to the creator of the thread but this has been discussed so many times it's getting rather repetitive. It usually goes exactly the way this thread has gone as well.. With people saying they can watch they want.. But pointing out the more creepy things about the fandom itself...

The problem with this is that every fandom will have parts of it that are "dark and just wrong". After all SOME?people are into graphic images and stories. It's not a part of society that we can just ignore, though a lot of people tend to unless it involves a particular fandom etc "bronies"

It's probably been said time and time again but the majority of bronies actively work and try and help the community they live in. They tend to be more charitable than most fandoms, and most of the time are happy enough to poke fun at themselves. But because there's a few images of a cartoon characters "private regions" on the Internet. EVERY brony is clearly interested in it....

Also this is unrelated and just something that irritates me on a personal level. I am a brony that is obvious., Just because another person likes the show does not mean I will get on with that person.... a lot of people like the same things but dislike each other...?

Simply put Bronies are a diverse group of people and everyone is different for good or for bad.

(yes I'm sonicmcmuffin... yes the mods know.. Please don't waste their time by reporting me)

Trigger warning(s).
Bronies are not cool.

Most bronies get flak from homophobes because of MLP's feminine qualities,
not for their dangerous perversion of a show that is exposing a younger generation to inappropriate material and toxic behaviour.

The MLP fandom did not have 20,000+ images/articles of "NSFW" content until the bronydom turned up, with zero attempts at discretion.
It did not have a rape-joke themed webcomic with 4,000+ followers, some of which were as young as twelve years old.
It did not support known sex-offenders, or groups of men and minors harrassing a young teenage girl who asked for a safer enviroment for the younger &/or sensitive members of the fandom, stalking/harassing her online and sending her rape-pics of her OC, daily, in order to prove the fandom "doesn't need changing" and that she should just "stop whining."

While dumb debates go on, this issue is obscured and dismissed by bronies themselves.

I'm fine with Bronies. So they watch a little kids show big deal, I mean do they have to play CoD or WoW to be considered normal? Yes of course there's going to be the creeps who give the fandom a bad name and ultimately create the stereotype's surrounding the fandom. But you have to look past them. I'm not a Brony nor have I ever really looked into that fandom, but some of the stuff is actually funny to me (doctor hooves for example).

On3On : Not everyone in the fandom is a horny twenty something making porn of it. Have you not heard of Rule 34? There's going to be perverts in every fandom deal.

Chindogu : Do you mean that "Rule 34" is an excuse to be disgusting whenever you feel like,
no matter how it affects others?

You didn't read or think about what I typed,
you're defending people, and their behaviour, that you know nothing of,
simply because you happen to enjoy some things you've found from the fandom.

"But not EVERY brony is like that!" But many defend, excuse, and cover up the issue, while others don't care.

This is a debate. All I have done is bring what I know to the table.

I also thought MLP was an ok show. I watched it to see what was all the fuss was about. However, it did not turn me into a bronie. And no, I don't believe in harassing or putting down people who are bronies. And yes, I also think it is wonderful that from the show adults and children alike got excited about things like friendship, solidarity and the little magical things in life that perhaps most people take so granted that we have almost forgotten them.

As for the adult brony content, clop and the like. Since it was such a huge internet phenomena, you are bound to get people like these involved more or less. And cynics and swindlers, because such is life and sadly you cannot escape that. Especially if something is on the internet, it will eventually turn in some part of it into a dirty version of what it originally was. (Hey! The whole brony thing started on 4chan so it was heavily expected to begin with!)

Even though, I wish what is deeply down good in the whole phenomena will live longer than what was corrupted. And I try to think of bronys as persons. Not all of them are sweet and innocent but there are the caring and nice majority which I believe most of them are.

(and yeah, I have found some adult brony jokes funny too)

My only problem with them is the obnoxious ones that obsess over the show and bring it where its not wanted are the most commonly found. I do not care for the show and wish to not see it on something completely unrelated. It even seems some of them like to pick fights with anti-bronies

Odd flames :

Gee... Never ran into any of these types here. And it is kind of not what the show was all about in my eye.(watched two and half seasons before I got bored) Or maybe I am too old for some ultrabronie to pick a fight with me. And there are not much bronies in my circle of friends. Just a few who thought the show was cute.
